5/18 dnm, a friend an occasional denizen of #csua has some hardware for
sale. He wanted to make it available to local geeks before
advertising on craigslist or eBay so I'm posting this for him.
No prices listed, email dnm with an offer.

2/9 A lot of movies I get from Kazaa or Bittorrent are in AVI format, and
I end up having to convert them back to MPG to burn to DVD or VCD
which is a big drag. Is there any reason why people prefer AVI instead
of the good 'ol MPG format? Is it the size, compression ratio,
        quality, or other factors?

1/13 Can ordinary people still change the world with ingenious inventions
and patents (like Edison and light bulb) (or at least make themselves
rich) or is this now completely in the hands of large corp with
crackpots making noise on the side? This is a serious question, not
        a troll about bad patents.

8/5 Dear network administrators, I'm just curious what percentage of the
traffic is http, ftp, ssh, finger, ping, etc? And is it really
possible to do a successful DoS via finger?
\_ Depends entirely on what your network does. Big corporation?
Internally? To the Internet? University? Carrier? It varies
tremendously. And you can DoS using pretty much anything, if you

2/21 What's the best tool to convert raw network traffic captured on the
wire into something useful? I'm currently reading the unparsed
output from ngrep, tcpdump and similar tools but I'd like to see that
turned into the real thing. For example, I want to see an output log
that says machine X went to host/port Y/y to grab URL Z for http
connections. I want emails going by saved out in mbox or other

2/5 So I've been trying to download stuff on Kazaa and I'm very impressed
at how the record industry is fighting back by uploading fake music
files. 95% of the stuff I download now are bogus. I'm very very
impressed. At any rate, what are some other non-sucking p2p programs
        I could use? Thanks.
