\_ Interesting. I guess coffee has more caffeine than espresso drinks.
See Starbucks Grande Coffee vs. Grande Mocha's, Per unit volume,
obviously espresso wins, but per drink, coffee wins.

Quite Possibly the Most Powerful Energy Drink Ever * October 7th, 2005 * 3:34 pm Seriously, the drink may mean the end of this blog. In the before time, conversations generally went a little something like this: So, whats a good energy drink in terms of strength? Well theres a lot to choose from, based on caffeine content, taurine, g inseng, green tea extracts Well what if Im just interested in caffeine content? Amazon is lacking a little information, so heres a little more: Check out this freaky scientific VPX breakthrough: RED LINE: is the onl y matrix ever developed to shred fat through the shivering response in the body. By shivering the body burns huge amounts of stored bodyfat fo r energy in an effort to keep the body warm. In additio n to shivering, youll also be sweating up a thermogenic storm. The com bined mechanisms of these two processes results in unparalleled fat los s! Now, its pretty obvious looking at the ingredients that there s caffeine. But get this: all of the aforementioned goodness, and the se rving size is FOUR ml. Basically, a bottle of this, less than the size of a normal can of coke, WILL kill you. The kind of friends th at voluntarily live on the streets. The kind of friends who, when drinki ng, race to forgetting. The kind of friends who take caffeine pills, eph edrine pills, and asprin.. One, in particular, drinks and c onsumes over a gram of caffeine daily, to stave off the headaches. So yo u know this is a serious review: oh yeah, its definately 90% caffeine. the best part is that since i didnt have my normal dose this morning , i probably wont actually feel sh*t. though in retrospec t, it normally does when its in syrup form and tastes like ass. took me a minute to realize that while i still was warm, it was that shiver reflex kicking in. its a lot like when you get a chill at the back of your neck, but somewhat continuous. Caffeine, Green Tea, Yerba M ate, 5-HTP (5 hydroxy-1-tryptophan), cAMP, Yohimbe, Evodiamine, and Vinp ocetine. I know, I know, so heres some more info: cAMP is cyclic adenosine monophosphate. Increased concentrations suppos edly raise thyroid horomone levels, and help fat burning (would help exp lain why its in a fat-burning supplement). Its considered a natura l aphrodisiac, and sold here to treat imotency, dialate pupils, and stim ulate fat loss. It can also mess with your blood pressure, so watch out. Evodiamine is derived from some Chinese fruit called Evodia Rutaecarpa. Vinpocetine is an alkaloid derived from some periwinkle plant. It is used in Europe, Japan, and Mexico to treat crebrovascular and cognitive diso rders. Some people claims it elevates metabolism, but with no proof. I made sure to spell it out, so the smart ones in the group have already figured out the key: Trypto phan. Its the same stuff in turkey that makes you sleepy, and theres s cientific evidence of it. The 5-HTP compound is sometimes used to treat mild depression since, somehow, it can increase serotonin levels. It can also affect appetite, which may be part of why they put it in here. When youre jacking up a drink with this much caffeine, you re going to get jitters and scatterbrain. This may actually cut the d isconnected thoughts out and allow you to think normally, but still give you the energy effects of caffeine. Apparently you can buy this stuff at places like Super Supplements, GNC, and even some 7-11s. The concentrate isnt something you should take a g uzzle of. If you search on the internet, you can se e some people who took the recommended dose, and started blacking out to wards the end of a workout. Theres al so a ready-to-drink version (I would bet thats the one at 7-11), and ha lf a bottle is all thats recommended. People are c omparing the 1/2 bottle to a full hit of ephedra. Unless youve done tha t before and know the effect it has on your body, dont go doing anythin g macho with this one. Just for poignant measure, look at this review: I recently purchased the liquid form of redline at a local 7 Eleven stor e It was the first time I have ever drank an energy drink that had such an affect. Being fa miliar with the effects of narcotics, I must say the feeling felt a lot like cocaine feels. The most disturbing trait is that my penis shriveled up like I just got out of the icy cold ocean. I cant help but think that this product wil l be taken off the market. The effects are too strong for some minors a nd may not be safe for people on certain medication which are yet to be known. And this one: I tried Redline today while heading to work. Having not read the warning label I drank the whole bottle within 5 minu tes. Within 10 minutes I was blacking out behind the wheel & shaking un controllably. I pulled over at a gas station I was having difficulty in swallowing and could not stand, breathe or see straight. Needless to say - my blood pressure was sky high & I thought I wa s on my way out. I feel this drink is extremely dangerous & should not be on the market. There needs to be a very visible warning label not to drink the whole b ottle for beginners. This drink could seriously kill someone if not informed. I am sorry but I will never drink this again nor recommend it to fellow peers. Putting somethin g on the market that can send people to the hospital or make them blacko ut while driving is just opening them up to some mega liability lawsuits . Reduce the potency b y two thirds, water it down, flavor it up and increase profits. If you w ant to sell a concentrate, then sell it seperate in a little brown bottl e with an eyedropper, and instructions on how many drops to add to juice up the drink. This puts the potency responsibility in the hands of the consumer. Gravatar * NastyDawg6r * November 6th, 2005 * 6:07 pm I find it quite interesting that whenever something is semi-dangerous, pe ople start talking about getting rid of it, or restrictions. The spider on marijuana drifted off before finishing the job. The spider on benzedrine, an upper, worked energetically but without much planning. The spider dosed with chloral hydrate, a sedative, soon fell asleep. But the spider dosed with caffeine was by far the most disoriented and pr oved incapable of creating even a single organized cell. Its web showed no sign of the "hub and spokes" pattern fundamental to conventional web design. What does the web of a caffeinated spider (which can hardly be accustomed to the jolt of a morning latte) have to do with human behavior? The treat ment for caffeine-induced psychosis is to withhold further caffeine." Francis Xavier Hospital James F Winchester, MD, Professor of Medicine, Division of Nephrology, G eorgetown University Medical Center * "Although infrequently diagnosed, caffeinism is thought to afflict as man y as one person in ten of the population." "Studies have shown that high dietary doses of caffeine (200 mg or more) increase anxiety ratings and induce panic attacks in the general populat ion. In the United States the average per capita daily intake among adul t caffeine consumers is 280 milligrams (the equivalent of 17 ounces of b rewed coffee)." CaffeineWeb note: One gram has long been considered the toxic dose of caffeine, but it may not be as rare as supposed. University of Florida study published in the Journal of Analytical T oxicology found that two 16 oz. coffees may contain in excess of one gra m "It has been noted that caffeine intoxication can occur in someone who ha s been using caffeine for many years with no prior apparent problems." Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition (DS M-IV) * "For five years I worked in a team practice with physicians and psychothe rapists. Often, the psychological evaluation would include one or more a nxiety syndromes, and the recommendation was for counseling. I would poi nt out that the person was consuming excessive amounts of caffeine and r equest a trial month off caffeine prior to therapy sessions. In about 50 % of cases, the anxiety syndrome would resolve with caffeine withdrawal alone." "In over a decade of practice as a clinical nutritionist, I have seen fir sthand, with thousands of clients, that caffeine is a health hazard. However, if that's all caffeine ha s done to you, you're lucky. What about people misdiagnosed as neurotic or even psychotic, who spend years and small fortunes in psychotherapy-- all because no one asked them about their caffeine intake?" com addresses the dangers of so-cal led moderate intake over the course of weeks, months and years. Those sa me 20 cups are the weekly average for American coffee drinkers, and in t he medium to long term can have devastating effects on caffeine-sensitiv e people. As caffeinism expert Ruth Whalen observes, "80-90% of the world's populat ion uses caffeine, 25% of the population is diagnosed with a mental diso rder, and at any one time 25% of hospital beds are taken by persons diag nosed with schizophrenia." Clinical studies indicate that there may b e a significant relationship among those figures, and that many people d iagnosed as mentally ill are in fact merely suffering from caffeine pois oning. In certain cases caff eine is the primary cause of symptoms that mimic mental illness, which v anish when caffeine is eliminated from the system. But caffeine is also known to exacerbate preexisting mental disorders, in which case withdraw ing from caffeine is only one ingredient to improving your health.
