ranger 4 hours ago What we need is a label in every product sold in the usa that says what percentage of the finished product is made in america, including materials etc.. If given a choice I always buy american made even if it is more expensive.
LC 5 hours ago The reason jobs are coming back is because the quality of Chinese products is terrible. What's the use in paying less if the product needs to be reworked once it gets into the States.
D F 4 hours ago China isn't the low cost producer it used to be. Their standard of living has increased over the years and so has the cost to get product form them. We now need the government to help to make it happen faster.
T-Bird 5 hours ago You would think with all the product recalls due to the lead paints used in toys over the last few years, US manufacturers would begin to question the value of cheap Chinese products versus US products that are a little more expensive to manufacture, but cost less in the long run due to compliance with Fed Regs?
As a real estate developer I use to put Thermado appliances in my new construction homes. After the last time, no more - I had at least 4 calls on an appliance that never got service calls. Talked to the service rep and he said the crap came out of China and what use to be a snore of a job for this appliance is out of sight now! One call after another - see Americans are better than China when it comes to quality!
Jim 4 hours ago One aspect consistently over-looked and under reported is the in-flux of shoddy goods from this new "off shore" manufacturing trend. Maybe the news teams aren't into power tools, but I've bought a number in recent years which were pure junk, respected American brand names but made overseas. When I go back to SoCal, I sometimes pick up a telephone for a couple bucks at the thrift store. I've bought three new phones while here in Costa Rica, all made in China, and every one crapped out within a month. We hear constantly how it's "more efficient" to move manufacturing to China, but there's nothing efficient about making junk.
Ford man 4 hours ago This will slowly happen within the next 5 years. Labor increases along with housing increase in China has forced a fast inflation. Many jobs will start coming back here, just give it time.
Willie 4 hours ago Many American jobs have been outsourced overseas and for many companies it has been a dismal failure, but... CEO's and other Executives in American corporations are not the type of people who like to admit failure, so they ignore the many issues that exist when they move jobs overseas. There is no one who likes to call for technical support only to find it difficult to understand the person that is supposed to help. And companies are realising that other countries don't have the same work ethics, or understand the need to solve problems immediately, mainly because these third party workers don't have any skin in the game. The issue for executives is about how they save face after having made some bad decisions by outsourcing jobs. It is only a matter of time for these executives to understand how outsourcing jobs has negatively impacted their businesses and bring these jobs home.
