12/22 For my motd investment buddy.
I was looking at TKF (Turkish Investment Fund) and I noticed the
        following:
        http://www.etfconnect.com/select/fundPages/global.asp?MFID=3857
        Closing NAV: $18.97
        Closing Share Price: $23.85
        Premium/(Discount): 25.72%
As a comparison, IFN (India Fund) has a premium of 5.05%
And the CEE you also recommended has a discount of 3.9%
Would you be worried about the 25.72% premium?
\_ Yeah, it worries me. Especially since I own some TKF. I wish
there was some other way to get exposure to Turkey. Do you
           know of any?
\_ I don't know any other. Thanks for the CEE tip.
I will sell half my EUROX first thing 2006, and buy
CEE with the money. 2006 so I don't pay capital
              gains until 2007.

\_ People have been using the term "millionaire" as a synonym for
"rich" for a very long time. But there's this little thing called
inflation. Having a million dollars in 1900 is roughly equivalent

10/24 If I trade my 401K stock on a quarterly basis (reshuffle/reallocate),
are the gains considered capital gains? How much is taxed on 401K gains?
\_ You don't pay taxes on your 401k until you withdraw it.
\_ Plus you can re-invest your gains again and again without being
taxed first. E.g. if you invest $1000 and gain $100, you can

INVESTMENT OBJECTIVE Turkish Investment Fund is a closed-end management investment company. The Fund will invest at lea st 80% of assets in equity securities of Turkish companies. The remainde r may be invested in dollar and lira denominated debt securities. Investor perceptions can be based on various and unpredic table factors including expectations regarding government, economic, mon etary and fiscal policies, inflation and interest rates, economic expans ion or contraction, and political climates. The value of any security ca n rise or fall and when liquidated, may be worth more or less than the o riginal investment. Generally, lower rated securit ies provide higher current income but are considered to carry greater cr edit risk than higher rated securities. In addition, it may be more s usceptible to any single economic, political, or regulatory occurrence t han the holdings of an investment company that is more broadly diversifi ed. Footnotes 1 Annualized total return is determined by subtracting the initial inves tments from the redeemable value of the investment at the end of the inv estment period, dividing the remainder by the initial investment and exp ressing the result as a percentage. For multiple years, 1 would be added to the results, this number could then be raised to the power of 1/year s annualized - 1 to find the result of a multiple year annualized return . The calculation assumes that all income and capital gains distribution s by the Fund have been reinvested at net asset value (share price) on t he ex dates during the period. A country is only listed if the investme nt in the country is more than 5% of the total assets.
