Around midday Saturday, villagers were startled by an explosion and a fireball that many were convinced was an airplane crashing near their remote village, located in the high Andes department of Puno in the Desaguadero region, near the border with Bolivia. Residents complained of headaches and vomiting brought on by a "strange odor," local health department official Jorge Lopez told Peruvian radio RPP. Seven policemen who went to check on the reports also became ill and had to be given oxygen before being hospitalized, Lopez said.

I doubt there is anything to it, but am reminded of the old saying "Some things are true whether you believe in them or not" Alien DNA or pathogens could easily eradicate much of the life on Earth. We have no resistance, our immune systems might not even recognize it as dangerous. An example would be you can get a piece of glass embedded in your body and you have no immunological responses at all.

We're still puzzling over whether or not the Viking probes found life on Mars, only to eventually find out in 2851 that most of the virii and bacterial life on earth is widely scattered throughout space and rained down here millions of years ago.
