11/8 Is there any truth to this (Israeli detained for celebrating WTO)? http://www.americanfreepress.net/11_03_01/Suspects_Still_Held/suspects_still_held.html \_ are you serious? look around the website. I don't know where to start, the racist christian identity site banners? new world order paranoia? ok i actually agree with http://www.americanfreepress.net/08_25_01/Banksters_to_Discuss_Phony_Age/banksters_to_discuss_phony_age.html \_ Well, if I thought it was a credible source I wouldn't have asked here on the motd :-), but just because someone is, say, racist, does not mean everything he says is false. The reason I searched and found that article is that an Israeli friend with no sympathy for Arabs learned from an Israeli newspaper that a dozen Israeli had been detained since 9/11 for simply taping the events and are now represented by Alan Dershowitz, something I have never heard of. Also, I do distinctively remember in the day of the attack, TV news reported "several Middle-eastern looking people were arrested in NY after being seen celebrating," just as related in the article above. But I never heard what happened to them afterward. \_ They were released. |

www.americanfreepress.net/11_03_01/Suspects_Still_Held/suspects_still_held.html Exclusive to American Free Press By Christopher Bollyn Five Israelis, suspected of being co-conspirators in the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, arrested in New Jersey with box-cutters, multiple passports, and $4,000 cash on Sept. They are among the more than 1,000 suspects who are being held in connection with the attacks whose detention is shrouded in secrecy. The five men were on the roof of a moving company and the rooftop of their moving van, taking pictures of the burning buildings, some with themselves in the foreground smiling. In each location, according to The Jerusalem Post, the men, described in press reports as rugged and Middle Eastern-looking, had been reported "cheering" and shouting in "cries of mockery," which evoked the ire of neighbors, who called the police to report suspicious activity. The Israelis: Sivan Kurzberg, his brother Paul Kurzberg, Yaron Shmuel, Oded Ellner and Omer Gavriel Marmari, suspected of being intelligence agents with prior knowledge of the attacks, are all in their 20s and employees of an Israeli-owned moving company, Urban Moving Systems, based in New Jersey. A spokesman for the Israeli consulate in New York told AFP that "there have been more" Israelis detained in connection with the terror attacks, confirming press reports that numerous Israelis had been arrested, although he would not say how many. The spokesman said the five above-mentioned Israelis are being held in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn among the general population, although all had been held in solitary confinement until last week, according to The Jerusalem Post. The mother of one of the detainees told the Israeli press that the suspects had been "tortured" during interrogation. The Israeli consul general in New York, Alon Pinkas, has visited the detainees several times, see ing them as recently as Oct. Katie Shmuel, the mother of Yaron, told the Israeli press, "He was allowed to talk to them only in English, and only from behind a glass partition. |
www.americanfreepress.net/08_25_01/Banksters_to_Discuss_Phony_Age/banksters_to_discuss_phony_age.html What you read in the mainstream press is not what will actually happen behind the closed doors of the upcoming IMF-World Bank meeting. You will read much about how Inter national Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank officials are promoting de mocracy and addressing the issues of the poor, but it's a phony facade. What happens is the world bankers impose rules on poor but allegedly "sovereign" nations to take direct control of their internal affairs. In most cases, it leaves the internationalists with more control-and more profits-and the target nation with more poverty. In order for a poor country to receive either a loan or a grant, "reforms" are required. The financial rewards, with American taxpayers paying the lion's share, are contingent upon following the international body's guidelines, said a source at the IMF. |
