your wording you imply that once pregnant _he_ has no
further obligation or duty to help take care of _his_ child.

men. If he has sex (birth control is not 100%) and gets
some girl pregant, he won't have to carry the baby for
nine months and deal with all of the physical and emotional
compliations that result from pregancy. If they are both
in school, he can stay in classes while she will probably
have to skip a semester or more to care for the kid, thus
kissing her future good bye. Even if she decides to abort,
he doesn't have to endure that medical procedure. I agree
that if he fathers a child then he has a responsiblity to
care for the child, I did not mean to imply that he does
not have this responsibility. The only problem with this
is that the law only holds him financially responsible
for the child. A child needs much more than a monthly
check and clearly he (and probably the girl that he has
sex with) are not prepared to provide that.
