ISG maintains a variety of compute servers, labs and resources for UNIX and Windows 2000 used by EECS classes. This position is in support of instructional computing labs, with an emphasis on the support of classes using WEB and database applications. DESCRIPTION: Patrol several Instructional labs in 3 buildings and repair printer and workstations if possible. Provide user consulting by email and in person to students and instructors. Help to administer class accounts and software for classes. Assist in specialized support for WEB server (Apache, Tomcat), database (IIS on Windows, Postgres on UNIX) for about 240 students in CS184, CS160 and CS169. Coordinate work with other members of the UNIX support group and help support several Instructional UNIX and NT labs (Soda, Cory, Davis Halls). QUALIFICATIONS: Required: college background in Computer Science, A or B grade in CS61A and CS61B or equivalent; Other abilities must incude a profound understanding of hardware and software needs and integration for both servers and workstations in a client server network model. SKILLS NEEDED: Windows NT Server: Mainaining users, setup of new services, hardware configuration, SMS, SQL, Mail Server, Office Server, Web Server.
