7/23 Internet's first router:
        http://www.wimp.com/firstrouter
\_ Wow! And the first VoIP phone! Notice that the fans on that
hardware look just like the fans these days.
\_ I'm typing on an IBM Clicky Clacky Keyboard.

Why The Internet will never amount to anything.
\_ More like why I try as much as possible to never buy anything
           online.
\_ It's funny but when you started to be able to buy flights online
the whole "fly by standby" thing just dissappeared. Sigh.
\_ What, you expect spontaneity to be a cultural trademark of
              the nerd generation?

\_ lies, damned lies, statistics, and pandering to the crowd.

3/3 If you read this
        http://www.net.berkeley.edu/dhcp/faq.shtml
and find why it's funny, you're an old Soda geek. -John
\_ Nice. Any idea who might have written this? erikk, maybe? There
are probably a lot of Sodans in IST. -not-that-old-Soda-geek
           \_ Jon?
\_ Scanning it, I see reference to Phil. What others?

11/4 Holy cow, I got a warning from my ISP that they were notified
        by BSA/baytsp.com that I was copying music/video/software.
Do they do port scan or something? That's a first for me.
\_ They hang out on P2P networks and track IP addresses. -tom
\_ I believe they are paid by content providers to perform this
monitoring service, so you should only run this risk with content
from certain sources (such as Fox movies)
              \_ That's probably true. -tom

9/25 What's a nslookup equivalent to look up "set type=all"? I don't
        have nslookup anymore.
\_ I think nslookup is deprecated and you're supposed to be using
dig and host now. Do you want the equiv 'host' acommand?
\_ is it host -av <host>?

9/13 $100M just for creating a map of broadband coverge in the US!
        http://www.csua.org/u/p1v (tech.yahoo.com)
\_ More porn for THE PEOPLE!!! Obamamama is great!!!
\_ You are right, it would be much better to spend that money
              blowing shit up in Iraq.
\_ Your article has been classified as: mistruths and
           misunderstandings.

6/3 Any phone geeks on here? I want to get a new smartphone, preferably
with wifi, touchscreen, and 3.5mm headphone jack. I don't plan to pay
the monthly $$ for a data plan though, since wifi is good enough for
me. That rules out the iPhone due to AT&T's policies.
Maybe I should get some sort of Nokia N-series.
\_ Wait one week and get a pre?
\_ 2 days. but it will have a data plan as well.
\_ I'm happy with a Blackberry 8320 (with WiFi) from T-Mobile, but in
order to get everything working via WiFi (e.g. Google Maps, Google
Mobile, Yahoo! Messenger etc) you need to sign up with their Black
Berry plan (just for a month), get the service book pushed to your
phone, then you can cancel it. Then your phone works OK in your WiFi.
Of course if you just want Safari browser, you can do it right out
           of the box.
