And also the man on the Harley is an ex-police officer, but he was very excited to do the shot with me, I had met him 5 minutes before doing it. I use a remote control shutter release - I'm always the one triggering the shot. Well, I can tell you, each photo has a totally different story. Most are done very guerilla-style, I don't tell anyone around me what I'm going to do, although in some circumstances I've had to, if it would make the photo better... The key to each shot is definitely timing and I can sometimes wait 30 min - 1hr to take a certain shot. But most of the time, I'm in and out, naked and dressed in a blink of an eye.
MiG like Ioann said above, if this was a normal everyday woman, with all their nooks and crannies, or even what is considered full sized or larger, i guarantee they would have been arrested. guarantee he wouldnt make it a few seconds without the police swarming. the fact that she is a "hot" woman is the only way this happened, and yes to be honest the photos are not all that interesting. maybe the one in the library, or the one on the street with the few guys, maybe have something, but not that interesting... other than exemplifying a nice body with the side shot, there isnt much to the pictures.
scott i guess everyone is missing the part that states these are self portraits... so what if the concept of the photo isnt the most original. and who care about the fact that shes attractive or not- the point is she stripped her clothes, set the camera on a timer or controlled it by remote, and got several crisp, casual looking photos in situations that would otherwise pose difficulty. no people breaking their character despite the young nude girl in their presence.
Examination of these shots show all the telltale signs of layering her nude image into various NYC backgrounds using Photoshop. Wake up and LOOK, her goal is simply to fool you, and she apparently has succeeded.
Auther Pendragon It doesn't take skill to have someone take a self portrait of yourself nude. I totally agree with most others who posted, had this been a Man or a women with imperfections they would have been arrested trying to do as she had done.
eric So if you're a mediocre female photographer wit a decent body, you can get noticed by snapping a bunch of public nude photos of yourself. The photos aren't even good from a artistic point of view.

Gary I really admire Erica for her courage to go nude on the streets of New York City. Erica is just expressing her freedom in her photos to go nude on the streets and express her desire to do her daily activities in the the nude. I see nothing wrong with Erica wanting to express the desire to be naked on the street. This is all about wanting to feel free and to enjoy life at its best. I hope she keeps up the good work and allow her to have fun with her body.
Amanda In a better world,photos like this would be much more common. Every time someone has the nerve to create a project like this,it makes the world just a little less prudish and intolerant. Apart from that,I think the skill of the photographer is quite apparent. These pics are common and everyday by design,almost as if that's the very point.

I love how living in Paris, seems to be the benchmark for accoplishment in art, in some peoples minds. I personally feel art comes from within, and place of origin, current living situation, or current residence doesnt make you a better artist.
The Sniper I also love how mediocre artist resort to nudity or controversy, when all else fails. I fully understand that Art, along with worth, is in the eye of the beholder, but unless your style has always involved nudity, has a message, is thought provoking, or revolutionary, nudity is a desparate and cheap gimmick. After looking at her porfolio, I hope she doesnt quit her "really" job. But alas, since she is very attractive and well maintained, her NY show will attract buyers and interest. Just hope her ability gets better with time, because if not, she will have to exploit herself in more and more graphic manners to get attention.

This is similar to the Japanese photographer's assistant who got so much attention last year for photographing herself while jumping in the air so she appeared to be floating.

Although there's no overt sexuality to the work, there are some pretty intense undercurrents that are very thrilling and exciting..... Erica Simone is a very attractive woman, and the contrast of seeing her beauty so ostentatiously displayed amongst such mundane urban settings is outrageous and fascinating. It's pretty hard not to have a lot of admiration of Erica Simone for her boldness, bravery, the originality of her artistic vision, and for her rather cconsiderable feminine charms.
Thumper While there's no overt sexulity to the work, to say there's "no sexuality" is I think an oversimplification. I find it pretty stimulating and judging by other comments, apparently just about everyone else does as well! Erica Simone has a lot of aesthetic appeal, she's a beautiful woman, and her work is thrilling, exciting and a whole lot of fun (which of course is the sexiest thing of all).
I really dig the ring piercing she has on her shaved hoo-hee. I've seen the photo of her jogging on the west side highway (photo #8) in large size and high resolution and I can tell you the details are just exquisite! This girl is really blessed, I don't blame her for wanting to show off a little.
tinata2 To be honest it makes me a little uncomfortable. I'm wincing in shame and embarrassment for the poor girl, but then I know it's really silly to feel that way. It really challenges our hang ups and social taboos over sexuality and nudity. It's very powerful, and conjures up all kinds of mixed and confusing emotions; humerous and entertaining, shame and embarrassment, with some underlying sexual tension. A really great work, i enjoyed it even if it does make me a little uncomfortable (and maybe that's the point).
