So proudly does he wear his 1% badge of honor that he tips exactly 1% every time he feels the server doesn't sufficiently bow down to his Holiness. Oh, and he always makes sure to include a "tip" of his own. The "tip" of his own in this case was to tell the server to "get a real job."
additional background on his boss, and some insight into why he would out his gross behavior, likely resulting in an employment status of current ex-banker: I work in the corporate office of a major bank for a boss who represents everything wrong with the financial industry: blatant disregard and outright contempt for everyone and everything he deems beneath him. At the same time, I'm still cashing paychecks, an admittedly willing--albeit reluctant--cog in the wheel of this increasingly ugly industry, so I've created this blog as a confessional of sorts. It won't entirely clear my conscience, but hopefully it'll help.
True Food Kitchen, gave some insight into how the company was treating the incident since the receipt began receiving attention online. Wilcox said that the restaurant was "absolutely" treating the receipt as real, but to confirm its authenticity for certain, they were in the process of tracking down both the physical receipt at the restaurant and the computer-generated copy in their credit card system. "The first thing we're going to do is to make sure the server is taken care of," Wilcox said, "and make sure the server wasn't treated badly or insufficiently tipped." He explained that they would be asking Breanna, the server named on the receipt, if she recalled the table and how her service was. "If her service was up to the level" they assume their employees would deliver, Wilcox said, "they would do everything they can to make it up to her somehow." Referring to online comments posted about the receipt, Wilcox remarked, "people are asking us to ban the person from the restaurant -- if more information came through on who the person is I first would love to talk to him." The complete statement from True Food Kitchen: We're glad to respond to the news stories about a tipping incident at True Food Kitchen in Newport Beach. Our first concern upon learning about this situation was our staff. We are very fortunate to have employees that are talented, bright, and undoubtedly, some of the best in the business. However, we would like to report that there is misinformation circulating about this situation. The dining receipt that was originally posted on the blog, Future Ex Banker, and then republished by various websites, was, in fact, altered and exaggerated. We'd also like to assure people that the receipt was not posted and altered by anyone on behalf of True Food Kitchen. We respect our guests' privacy and take it very seriously;

Please, explain about how their critical thinking is so worthy of emulation. People are people, no matter what their political affiliations. They do stupid things, and believe ridiculous hoaxes when they play to their preconceptions. You only combat this by recognizing your prejudices, something you have clearly failed to do so far.

Certainly am not "blinded by hate" over this gotcha story. Try picturing a scientist "blinded by hate" over facts, LOL Blinded by hate is for moral judgements based on subjective conclusions. "Conspiracy" is another favorite for GOP "we hate the government" types. I have eaten in many Newport Beach restaurants and waiters are very nice because they live near the sunny beach. Cheap tipping even makes conservatives look bad because they NEED to SHOW OFF their $$$. Anyway you want to play this story I feel sorry for the instigator. Planting lies or mocking waitors only comes from mean people. Some like to Kick Down but no one wants to be around them. Try on my motto, All for One and One for All, for some it fits easy, LOL Fourcents: As a Lib I guessed this was a phony story.
actually read the link HuffPost has finally added to the story: "A spokesperson for True Food Kitchen today provided TSG with the above copy of the credit card receipt from the Newport Beach eatery's business records. The February 16 receipt is the "Guest Copy," while the one used in the hoax is the "Merchant Copy," indicating that the scammer sought to make it appear that the altered receipt had actually been left behind at the restaurant." So yes, the person who made up this hoax filled out the 'guest copy' with the real tip and total and filled out the 'merchant copy' with the fake tip and note to 'get a real job' so it looked like the 'merchant copy' is the one they left behind at the restaurant. So once again, feel free to apologize to me and everyone else for believing such an obvious hoax.
jpg For everyone who called me names for stating the truth from day 1 that this story was a fake I will gladly accept your apologies. And to 'somewhatodd' who even today was still claiming the story was real all I have to say to you is LOL!
Let's face it, the internet is a medium that is vulnerable to manipulation from anyone sufficient imagination and insufficient moral compass to forther his or her agenda, whtever that may be. "Blind hatred" appears not to have any particular political affiliation.
When you are given two papers to sign as a receipt, it is VERY common for someone to accidentally sign the "guest copy", leaving that as the signed receipt, and leaving the merchant copy unsigned, because often times, you don't care about the receipt and will just leave it. As long as there is one signed receipt, the transaction is fine, no problem. Apparently not many people had to wait tables to get through HS and College.
