unlucky? 4 carriers lost? Looked like they had superior air
cover for the carriers too.

\_ Yamamoto had groups very sparsely distributed, the sub screen
failed, PURPLE had been broken, the main force had few capital ships,
the air strategy was to keep half in reserve. That is a sampling of
what went wrong; it's actually a very complicated situation. Remember
the play was for total Pacific domination; it was a gamble and they
lost. Glory to the Emperor. Incidentally you could have found
this out by reading a single page or by watching about 20 minutes
of any Midway documentary.
