5/20 Captain Camera Log
09.05.09: bought Interslice's camera seal and repair kit, aka
                Jon Goodman. http://www.kyphoto.com/classics/sealreplacement.html
                http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/interslice_W0QQ_nkwZQQ_armrsZ1QQ_fromZQQ_mdoZ
09.05.14: received repair kit. Started working on a Nikon FE2.

Got rid of vulcanite goo gunk that deteriorated in the past
few decades. Removed FE2's focusing screen, did a major
clean-up. View finder is now all nice and bright. Added 3mm
mirror damper, re-sealed the light box.
09.05.17: started working on the Pentax K-1000. The view finder is
dirty with deteriated rubber seals. Awaiting for the
right tool to open up the speed dial.
09.05.18: lost bid on a bunch of cheap rangefinder cameras
09.05.19: lost bid on the expensive Leica M3 with original
box and receipt and paperwork (posted previously on motd)
09.05.20: received an Olympus OM-10. Focusing screen needs replacement
as the previous owner abused it with a strong solvent. Got
a new replacement from eBay. Awaiting for the replacement
so that a new mirror damper can be installed.
09.05.20: continue bidding on more broken cameras so that I can
repair them and resell at a profit

9/28 A lot of photos I take come out blurry. A lot of them are clear,
too, but the proportion of blurry photos is high. This has led me
to take more photos than I otherwise would in hopes of getting a
clear one. I took some photos of the Rio grande and they
were all awesome, but the next day I took photos of landscapes
and almost all of them were blurry. Could it be the camera or is

4/8 I want to by my mom a point and shoot camera for about $150 because
she's running around with this 1 megapixel camera from back in the
day. I looked at Canon and Nikon, but I am not as into this stuff as
some people on MOTD are. I take photos with my Blackberry. What's
a good choice in that price range? Definitely not more than $200.

Yashica TL Super PRO SEAL RE-SEALING INSTRUCTIONS: These files are offered to assist you in the re-sealing of various popular camera models. To my knowledge and from my experience, they are accurate. I can not be responsible for any error, mistake or omission, but if you notice any, please let me or the site owners know, and we will make corrections. Neither the site owners nor I can be responsible for any damage to your camera (direct, consequential or otherwise). com, and put something in the subject line like "light seal material." A BEGINNING SUGGESTION: There is a file in here named Small Seal, and it is included in English, Spanish and Italian. This is a set of general re-sealing instructions, and I think you should read this one before beginning any re-sealing work. For those of you who feel nervous about replacing the mirror damper pad in SLR style cameras, there is a file named Mirror Damper Replacement. I think this would also be a good one to read in order to appreciate some of the differences in damper pad design, removal and replacement. Also, what works in one camera may or may not work in similar cameras. I would invite you to study files on similar cameras if you find your camera not yet represented in this list. For example: the Nikon FM series is almost exactly like the FE series as respects light seal design. A WARNING: Please do not use any solvent on or near your mirror damper pad or focus screen. It is far too easy to ruin these screens with harsh solvents, and once ruined, they must be replaced. Also, please do not use solvents like acetone, MEK, toluol or similar. ABOUT TRANSLATION: You will notice I have included some instructions which have been translated into other languages. If you are able to translate these files correctly into any other languages, camera repairers and users around the world would definitely appreciate your efforts. This is all voluntary work, but if you want the MS-Word files these pdf files were created from, please let me know. Please do not offer to translate using Babel Fish or other free translation programs. Those are handy but generally not suited to technical translation.
