The documents, obtained by Judicial Watch through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), include internal DOD email correspondence detailing attempts by DOD staff to accommodate Pelosi's numerous requests for military escorts and military aircraft as well as the speaker's last minute cancellations and changes.
" The email also notes that Pelosi's office had, "a history of canceling many of their past requests." folks prepping the jets and crews driving in (not a short drive for some), cooking meals and preflighting the jets etc." In May 2008, for example, Pelosi requested that her husband join her on a Congressional Delegation (CODEL) into Iraq. The DOD explained to Pelosi that the agency has a written policy prohibiting spouses from joining CODEL's into combat zones. Pelosi noted in her letter of August 22, 2008, that such a request, labeled "Operation Tribute" was an "exception to standard policy." "It is my understanding there are no G5s available for the House during the Memorial Day recess. " wrote Kay King, Director of the House Office of Interparliamentary Affairs.

Pelosi Travel Tips Pelosi does not represent my district. She should not be taking my money for her personal travel whims. There are scheduled commercial airline flights to San Francisco several times a day. I will grant that in an emergency, such as after 9/11, a temporary situation exists where the Speaker should have the protection of military flights, but only temporary and on a very limited basis. The Speaker should A) reimburse the military for flights B) pay income tax on the flights as with any perk offered by an employer. The speaker is a citizen and should travel like the rest of us if for no better reason than to see how difficult common travel has become. But if a better reason is necessary, she needs to know that the cost is money not hers to take, frivolously or otherwise.
THIS IS BLATANT STEALING Down where i live this would never be accepted. Just because she is the House speaker, she is no better than any other representative or congressman in the congress. she should use commercial airlines and support our economy instead of stealing from the taxpayers.

It will be joyful to watch this Democrat controlled congress fall flat on it's face. This will take a scant 2 years before these leftist loon fall out of grace. Then our president will have to work to get legislation passed instead of it being handed to hm on a silver platter. Bush would've been better off if he had at least one house or the other controlled by the Dems.

Are you people for real She is the Speaker of the house, third in command in this country, these are internal documents about her planning her busy schedule of flights and trips, every fortune 500 company in the world have a person that will be in constant contact with whomever they need to plan trips and schudule planes, hotels, security etc.. WAKE UP PEOPLE where was your outrage when we gave billions to no bid contracts in IRAK, where was your outrage when we ballout all the banks without asking them to have accountability.
It is definitely time for some House Cleaning in Washington. Forget the fact that she's ugly, she continues to be the most unprofessional Speaker of the House in History and completely out of touch. Who are these California Democrats that keep voting for her? Time to make a list of all the House Dems that need to go, starting with Pelosi.
After reading over the After reading over the emails, I don't see any indication that Pelosi is doing anything unusual for the position. There was a request to fly from an airport closer to her home (which was denied, as a matter of policy but also citing cost), but perhaps Pelosi did not realize the costs. It would be helpful if data comparing Pelosi to other Speakers and other congresspeople were provided. For instance, the summary makes it sound like Hastert used these planes once following 9/11, yet the emails suggest it was very common for him to use these planes (and that he always took staff along). It should also be noted that family reimburse the DoD for their use of the plane.
