3/6 "I realize that it is an unpopular and unhumanitarian position, for
which I have been excoriated by 'liberal' colleagues but I think
Plessy v. Ferguson was right and should be reaffirmed."
--William Rehnquist, 1952
\_ For those who don't want to look it up, Plessy v. Ferguson was
the decision that said "seperate but equal" was a-ok.
\_ "The bald statement that Plessy was right and should be
reaffirmed, was not an accurate reflection of my own
views at the time." --William Rehnquist, 1986
\_ I don't get it?

original memo at the request of Justice Jackson (who he
was clerking for) and that he didn't personally agree.
\_ Yeah. As I recall Roberts tried that excuse as well. |
