1/12 What is the purpose of having best men and groomsmen besides
standing around so the groom doesn't look like a loser? Why would
you need 2 groomsmen, let alone 3, 4, 5? Do they actually DO
anything besides costing you money and trouble to get them
exact same type of tux+bow ties? -wedding dumb
\_ yes. Typically you're supposed to represent family members
from either side as the groomsmen. Normally the person being
the godparent of the childe would be there. Back in the day
weddings weren't just about the couple, they were about the
uniting (think: politics) of two houses. Now they're just
glorified ushers. Just go to vegas. save your money for the
           5 or 10 year anniv.
\_ Forget Vegas. Do a Taco Bell wedding.
\_ The best man is supposed to keep track of the wedding ring. And in
Chinese wedding the best man is supposed to divert to himself any
drinking challenges directed at the groom.
\_ Does that ever actually work? Most weddings I've been to, groom
              is soused in no time.
\_ In Hong Kong there used to be only best man and maid of honor,
no groomsmen or bridesmaids. And the best man and maid of honor
had to be single. Nowadays I don't know.

\_ Chinese New Year Day Off!
\_ No. When I was in primary school, my parents used to tell me to
take a sick day when I overslept (i.e. when they overslept and
           wake me up in time.)
didn't wake me up in time.)
