www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/16/bush-administration-tryin_n_113199.html Comments The New York Times reports that the Bush Administration's Department of Health and Human Services is drafting a rule that would place new restrictions on domestic family planning programs. While current law allows health care providers and professionals to refuse to provide abortions based on their religious beliefs, this provision would threaten the funding of organizations and health facilities if they do not hire people who would refuse to provide birth control and defines abortion so broadly that it would include many types of birth control, including oral contraception. This is perfect timing for the fall campaign, hopefully it will remind voters how out of touch the GOP is. Clearly the vast majority of Americans support contraception. permalink If you do not RECOGNIZE fascism in your midst and UNDERSTAND that there are brownshirts working for Fatherland Security who are following the propaganda with zealotry. permalink Hillary Clinton has now announced she's going to fight this in the Senate. AND I'd really like McCain to be forced to comment on this - to be forced to announce his position on it. permalink It will be similar to the movie Minority Report. If you even think of having sex that doesn't result in a baby or if you are thinking of getting married and not having children, you will be jailed. permalink This is a disturbing, concerted effort to criminalize women. How about those where conception occurs in their body, but the fertilized egg never implants? Anyway you look at it, just about all women will be criminals under this proposal. permalink So how many women who are otherwise pro-life nevertheless use birth control of any kind? If McCain loses the female vote in every state by a ten point margin, Obama could easily win 40-some states. permalink The Republicans dont' seem to have noticed that we can't AFFORD their ProLife policies anymore. They have so gummed things up that there's no way American families can afford extra children, and no way we can afford social programs to help raise them. They are completely out of touch with the regular world. |
