10/31   $2.99/gal regular at Shell in Foster City this morning.  Haven't seen
        it below $3 for a long while.  This is going to hurt the movement
        towards fuel-efficient cars.
        \_ Does anyone seriously believe that this is more than a temporary
           reprieve?
