Any question about his executive experience is a trick question, and Obama should know that. It cannot logically be answered because he has never been an executive and thus cannot have any executive experience. So when Anderson Cooper asks Obama to compare his executive experience to that of Sarah Palin, The Messiah almost made me spray my coffee.
has, uh, 50 employees, uh, uh, we've got 2500, uh, in this campaign. Uh, uh, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month. Uh, so I think that, uh, our ability to manage large systems, uh, and to, uh, execute, uh, I think has been made clear over the last couple of years. Uh, and certainly, in terms of, uh, the legislation that I've passed just dealing with this issue post-Katrina, uh, of how we handle emergency management. The fact that, uh, many of my recommendations were adopted and are being put in place, uh, as we speak indicates to extent to which we can provide the kinds of support and good service that the American people expect.
But the main point here is that Obama didn't really answer the question, and he set up a straw man argument in response to Cooper. Governor Palin is, well, governor, and not currently the mayor of Wasila. As Governor, Palin operates a $9 billion budget, and manages $13 billion in revenue. Furthermore, she runs a government that employs 25,000 people. Obama blithely pretends that she's still the mayor of "Wasilly" in order to boost himself. He deliberately makes fun of the name of the town like the arrogant elitist he is, and once again manages to insult small town America and their bitter, clinging, citizens. However, running for office isn't executive experience, for one good reason: Obama isn't the campaign manager. He has a CEO actually running the campaign, handling the budget, and managing the people while Obama makes the speeches. I would add that even if Obama personally managed every last detail of his campaign, he still believes the act of running for president gives him the executive experience to be president. And the decision to run for president, of course, requires no executive experience at all. Barack Obama has had 4 full days to come up with the answer to the question comparing his executive experience to that of Governor Palin, and for this to be his answer shows just how badly they have been shaken by her being added to the ticket.
For Barack Obama to argue that he's experienced enough to be president because he's running for president is desperate circular logic and it's laughable. It is a testament to Barack Obama's inexperience and failing qualifications that he would stoop to passing off his candidacy as comparable to Governor Sarah Palin's executive experience managing a budget of over 10 billion dollar dollars, and more than 24,000 employees.
Bloodthirsty Liberal Is Barack Obama Running Against Sarah Palin? on September 2nd, 2008 * 2 Barack is the Talent in this epic. He is an actor, relying on others to produce, direct and otherwise create his life.
billypaintbrush on September 2nd, 2008 * 3 Obama is a buffoon, up who's rearend someone needs to plant their shoe. And as long as he cannot find the respect to address Gov. Palin as such and acknoweldge that she has managed a budget, captial and operating, of which he cannot speak -- or that she oversees thousands more employees that he has yet -- until then I'll refer to him as community organizer Obama, or whatever his name actually is. BTW: On "Fox News Sunday," I think it was, Mort Kondracke gave the same limpid, nonsensical excuse that community organizer Obama has managed a campaign. The bar gets lowered by the Demockacrats, liberals and leftists to where fantasy replaces reality. McCain sealed the election last Friday by picking Palin. And this slander, disrespect, libel and overall filth that's been sent her way since then simply further exposes the DLLs and their fascistic leader for the reprobates that they are.
Bill Dupray reply on September 2nd, 2008: Fred Thompson will be giving what has been billed as a "Red Meat" speech tonight defending Palin against the scurrilous liberal press. Can't wait for my first choice for president to defend my first choice for future president. And Fred can open up an industrial-sized can of whoop-ass when he wants to.
Reply CKA in Red State USA on September 2nd, 2008 * 4 Obama'a experience argument is begging the question. If he wins, it's somewhat valid, in the sense it does not matter. I guess the argument is aimed at uneducated Clinton supporters, not at his enlightened supporters.
Reply BA on September 2nd, 2008 * 5 I can't believe this is the best they can do with four days to think about it. Show that she manages three times as many people as were in the stadium for Obama's speech. I'd suggest "A little less talk, a lot more action" as the background music in that ad.
Reply Rose on September 2nd, 2008 * 6 In reply to Rose, there are over 670,000 people in Alaska. Governor Palin actually "manages" more than 8 times the people in the Denver stadium.
Bill Dupray reply on September 2nd, 2008: The point is that in Alaska, she is The One: The One in charge of every state agency in Alaska; The One in charge of submitting budgets, and signing or vetoing legislation; and The One in charge of the 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard, which is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks, and which is on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.
I think we need to make it very clear that Experience=responsibility=decisions, not time served or clock punching. Same thinking that says that, if you haven't been on Meet the Press repeatedly, you're not a "player". Try telling Americans that newly minted Governors don't do squat.
Reply Steve Z on September 2nd, 2008 * 7 Is Obama referring to his executive experience or decision to vote against Tom Coburn of Oklahoma's two bills to cut pork and direct the money to bebuilding after Katrina hit. The embattled state of Louisiana really must have needed a new visitor center in Morgan city much more than it needed to have the levies shored up. If the levies had been repaired and rebuilt then perhaps the army corp of engineers would not have had to worry so much yesterday about whether or not they would hold and keep the city from being flooded yet again. far be it from me to judge the experience and wisdom of the junior senator from Illonois.
Bill Dupray reply on September 2nd, 2008: His response is so cheesy, it is not even worthy of a Senator, never mind a guy who wants to be president. A fourth grader could have punctured that fallacious logic.
Reply cookiegramma on September 2nd, 2008 * 8 He compares being a candidate and having a campaign machine to executive experience because, as someone who has no executive experience, he doesn't really know what that term implies. In fact, I would submit that most liberals, journalists, academics, and a large number of democrats (tho not all) don't really know what "executive" experience means. Its easier to be 1 of 100 voting on a measure than it is to be the ONE who has to make a decision, propose budgets, manage presonnel etc etc. If you are the ONE and there is a problem, the blame falls on you.
Jack reply on September 2nd, 2008: DW, I'm still laughing at: "He compares being a candidate and having a campaign machine to executive experience because, as someone who has no executive experience, he doesn't really know what that term implies."
Reply DamnWalker on September 2nd, 2008 * 9 Obama is an idiot. Being the beneficiary of a well-run campaign hardly qualifies him as having "executive experience."
