8/3 Religious nuts in Texas apparently have no sense of irony, and are trying to ban "Fahrenheit 451" from schools: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUq2d2OFRkk \_ this appears to be 2 years old. \_ interestingly enough Ray Bradbury has said his own book has been misinterpreted, and it was really a long rant about how television was going to destroy our culture. \_ Of course back before he was a cranky old man he said otherwise. |

www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUq2d2OFRkk Religious nuts in Texas seek to ban book about book banning! Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Good comment Marked as spam Reply I really enjoyed this book during high school. Oh the sheer irony of this whole situation is delicious. Good comment Marked as spam Reply Wow they just don't get it at all. The book isn't saying burn books it's saying it's wrong to burn and ban books like the bible. I'm a christian and I think this book is VITAL for reading. If these stupid fucks pushed for the book to be banned, they've just supported having the bible burned (which is what they're complaining about). Good comment Marked as spam Reply This must be one of the most profound misunderstandings of what a book is about I ever heard of. This man is the embodiment of the very reason why people -have- to read as many books in their lives as they possibly can. An uptight Christo-fascist girl in a small town near Conroe, Texas and her father try to get her high school to ban the sci-fi classic "Fahrenheit 451" for containing "offensive material". |
