7/23 See, I told you he was HITLER!
        http://preview.tinyurl.com/6dv7mr
\_ I thought Obama was a Marxist. Is he Hitler, too?
Obamarxhitler just doesn't have the same ring as Bushitler, does it?
           \_ Obama == Socialist ~ National Socialist == Nazi == Hitler
\_ Socialist >>> Bush Reagan Capitalist > McCain
                 Therefore, Obama >>> McCain
\_ This is too long for a soundbite, you need a way to say
                 this in a snappier fashion.
\_ I orignially posted about Obama's choice to speak in front of the
victory column. My intention wasn't to imply the Obama was Hitler,
just that he was incredibly arrogant and aften tone deaf. I expect
this sort nonsense from Bush, but you'd think the more 'humble' Obama
would, I don't know, ask a German where he should have a speech in
           Germany.
just that he was incredibly arrogant and often tone deaf. I expect
this sort nonsense from Bush, but you'd think the more 'humble'
Obama would, I don't know, ask a German where he should have a
           speech in Germany.
\_ You know he was denied his original speaking location, right?
Perhaps the Obama campaign should have you as a consultant,
since you obviously have his best interest at heart. He should
dress up in a fighter suit, pad his codpiece, land on a
aircraft carrier, and give a speech to a cheering throng
under a "Mission Accomplished" banner like a good Republican
fake war hero instead? Where was your outrage at the fascist
              overtones then?
\_ 1. Yes his original location was the Brandenburg Gate. Which
was a jaw-droppingly arrogant, and insulting, first choice.
                    He can't ask a German?
\_ "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"
\_ Ummm... Yes? Said a standing President? Your point?
\_ So it is okay when Reagan does it, but not when
Obama does? Got it. I see where you are coming
                             from, thanks.
\_ Was it a campaign stop for Reagan too? Reagan
wasn't invited to speak there? Oh. You have
no idea what you're talking about? Got it. I
see where you are coming from, thanks.
\_ "Milk Strike ends at Brandenberg Gate"

It gets used for all kinds of things. Are
you German or something? I don't think you
know what you are talking about, you are
just parrotting some right wing talking
just parotting some right wing talking
                                   points you heard somewhere.
                                   \_ see below.
\_ Why can't the presumptive president use the same
                             location?
\_ Hey Germans, I think this hugely important
landmark, usually reserved only for visiting
heads of state, would make a nice campaign
speech backdrop, how that sound to you?
speech backdrop, how's that sound to you?
\_ Sounds to me like exactly the kind of
thing that a Harvard educated elitist
would think was a good idea.
\_ It actually gets used almost daily by
various sorts of protestors and the like.
                                   Who told you otherwise?
                                   \_ Sorry, I wasn't clear and overstepped
                                      there. Obviously context is important.
The Gate is a public area, I didn't mean
to imply it was sealed up or something.
But there's a huge difference between
a bunch of German protestors and a
foreign pol giving a speech there. The
                                      latter comes with HUGE political
                                      implications.
\_ 2 weeks ago if someone had said
Obama was having a speech at
the Brandenberg Gate you would have
                                         not be blathering this bullshit.
However, you read a bunch of blogs
                                         flinging shit at Obama desperatly
trying to make "gaff prone elist"
stick and suddenly it is OBVIOUS

can see where that got us.
\_ Ok, true. But I don't think a little bit of sensitivity
to our allies is wildly unrealistic.

Barack Obama Hosts German Campaign Stop For World Presidency July 23, 2008 / 12:14 am o By Dr. Melissa Clouthier A note about the picture juxtaposition: This is about artistic tone. When I saw the Obama flier picture, my mind immediately called up this Hitler image and I was struck by how similar they are in feel the color choice differences aside. Patrick Ruffini draws attention to the advertising and rally literature that is written in German. This action would be shocking, but this is Obama we're talking about. Patrick says: So, this isn't just some sober, high-minded foreign policy speech, part of a foreign trip occurring under the auspices of his official Senate office. They are using the same tactics to turn out Germans to an event as they would to any rally right here in America. This after Obama's campaign said this: "It is not going to be a political speech," said a senior foreign policy adviser, who spoke to reporters on background. "When the president of the United States goes and gives a speech, it is not a political speech or a political rally. "But he is not president of the United States," a reporter reminded the adviser. The sea of Germans drummed up by the Obama campaign will be used as props to tell us Americans how to vote, and the campaign isn't trying to pretend otherwise. That's breathtakingly arrogant, and par for the course for Barack Obama. Guardian reports this: The centrepiece of the European leg of Obama's visit will be his Berlin speech. Liberal and conservative politicians in Germany expressed consternation that Obama plans to address the crowds from beneath the golden angel statue which graces Berlin's Siegessule, a landmark which Hitler moved to its present location as part of his bid to transform Berlin into the world capital Germania. it was the symbol of German supremacy and victory against Denmark, Austria and France," Rainer Brdele of the liberal FDP party told the Bild am Sonntag. "It makes me wonder if Barack Obama was correctly advised in using the victory column as the location to talk on his vision for global cooperation." Not only is this a political flier meant to influence American voters via the Deutchland, it is seriously unnerving propaganda. You put of picture of Hitler next to Obama's and then expect us to take your views seriously. Why didn't you draw a fake moustache and horns on Obama? At least then you would have revealed your true feelings from the start. The words say 1) when and where the speech is, 2) that the speech is open to the public, and that 3) there is no charge for admission. As for speaking in front of something in any place in Europe without some kind of untoward historical significance. Reply Please note: I did not say Barack Obama and Hitler are anything alike, just that the imagery is startlingly alike. It would be one thing for a flier in America in English called to mind that imagery, but when Obama is going to the very place Hitler spoke at and chose as the capital of the world under German supremacy, it's alarming. The image popped in my head before I read about where he was speaking, for what it's worth. Well, I could, considering the candidate, but it seemed to be rank hubris even for him. s former campaign posters and Rolling Stone covers looked like he was using the same PR firm as Dear Leader Comrade Kim Jong-Il; why wouldn't they (or their replacement PR firm) be channelling Goebbels and/or Speer? Come to think of it, Hillary's managers/PR flacks also had a weakness for "Third World Glorious Leader" poses and angles... Reply I thought almost exactly the same thing when I saw the Obama poster lst night. It strikes me as the same facial angle, the same fierce look, the same sort of soaring words flying up from the face of the leader that we saw in fascist Europe and the fascist/Marxist Soviet Union later on. I wish I had ready access to some of those propaganda posters to do a comparison. I can't believe, for all the smart people the Obama campaign has hired, that no one there got a twinge of recognition when they saw the poster. I'm sure that some will call it simply coincidental, but if you put enough concidences together, you get something very close to intent. Reply It would be one thing for a flier in America in English called to mind that imagery, but when Obama is going to the very place Hitler spoke at and chose as the capital of the world under German supremacy, it's alarming. So your concern is that Obama is trying to appeal to Germans by speaking in their capital? Or are you arguing that Nazi imagery -- even that which exists in your fevered dreams -- is a selling point to Berliners these days? Reply All this is really pretty rich coming from people who support the party that gave us such masterpieces of cynical stagecraft as the Mission Accomplished speech. And as for the location, he was going to do it at the Brandenburg Gate before the Bushies got Merkel to quash that plan. She was pointing out the thematic similiarities in the poster, not a political belief that Obama would murder folk. For my part, what bothers me is how during dramatic moments, he will stop and glance out over the audience. But his head level is too high, so he can't really be looking at anything. The first was how Jim Morrison in seeking to be more like Alexander the Great would always be filmed with his head sort of off to one side. It was a bizarre affectation, and I honestly found it disturbing when I read it. Now cross that with Joey from Friends when he talked about "smell your farts acting." Obama takes on this bizarre look like he half waiting for some huge spectre to emerge from behind the audience or a spaceship to land, and half trying to remember via olfactory intake of flatulatory effluvience what it was he had for breakfast. Reply She was pointing out the thematic similiarities in the poster, not a political belief that Obama would murder folk. What's the "theme" of comparing the profile of a Hitler poster with that of an Obama poster if it isn't political? After all, the "point" got across to your fellow conservatives, right on this thread: I'm sure that some will call it simply coincidental, but if you put enough concidences together, you get something very close to intent. Why don't you guys argue about the "nuance" of the Doctor's point? No Trackbacks How is it that I can love Abigail Breslin, Stanley Tucci, Joan Cusack, Glenne Headley and even like a lot Julia Orman and HATE with hateful hatiness this movie? No Trackbacks "I know rednecks," my friend was telling me, "and they're not unaware, but this is what they think about Barack Obama: they don't think he's a Muslim, they think he's a secret Muslim." After laughing about it, I responded that I know very highly educated people who flat out believe Barack Obama isn't a secret Muslim, he just IS a Muslim. My name is Melissa and I'm not even a wee bit Greek, but there you go.

archive Milk strike ends at Brandenburg Gate 05/06/2008 00:00 The 10-day strike ends after thousands of dairy producers showed up at the Berlin landmark to push for higher milk prices. Berlin -- The lengthy milk strike in Germany was brought to an end Thursday afternoon after more than 7,000 people demonstrated at Berlin's Brandenburg Gate for higher milk prices. After hosting a number of speakers from across the Europe, Romuald Schaber, head of the BDM association of German dairy farmers, ended the 10-day-long milk strikes by calling farmers to start up deliveries again that evening. Dairy farmers went on strike demanding that milk prices rise to at least 43 euro cents per litre to support producers in the face of rising energy costs. This has seemingly had an effect: Milk has been growing scarce in shops and supermarkets for the past week and large discount supermarket Lidl recently offered to raise its prices by 10 euro cents per litre from Monday onwards. Other companies are now expected to take similar action. The price of milk is currently 28-34 euro cents per litre. Schaber commended all involved in the strike for their hard work and praised the solidarity of the movement as the key to applying pressure for higher prices. He also thanked the demonstrators for travelling to Berlin from all over the continent. as a movement to show their strength and build up pressure for their cause. There was also an air of defiance against opponents of the strike, with various speakers stressing the need to show "courage" and stay united. "If Europe wants enough to eat, they must buy it, not take it," said one speaker. The demonstration also had an international atmosphere, with speakers from Belgium, Switzerland and France present, and letters of support from Canadian and Brazilian farming organisations being read out to a jubilant crowd bearing cow bells and flags. One speech was in French, and was cheered on despite the language barrier. Brandenburg Gate, a popular venue for epic political events such as the Dalai Lama's recent speech during a visit to Germany, was the scene for a unique demonstration. Signs and T-shirts bearing slogans "Milk built this body" and "Almost broke - it's not just the milk going sour" among others were not the only forms of protest, due to the bizarre costumes and farmers in overalls in the crowd. The presence of farmers was also made obvious by the row of over 100 tractors parked before the gate, in a line that reached back past the famous Soviet memorial. A number of buses were stationed nearby to take people back home. The demonstration was peaceful, with only a small police presence at hand. Despite the optimism of the crowd, however, some felt the fight still had a long way to go. "The mood was good here today but I feel unsatisfied with the strike," one farmer said. Lidl are raising milk prices on Monday but when will we see that money? Farmers will probably only get an extra cent from that and it won't make a difference."

Close window << Germany: Famous Brandenburg Gate in Berlin Hosts Rally to Bring Jiang to Justice On the morning of Monday November the 24th 2003, several hundred Falun Gong practitioners from countries all over Europe gathered in front of the famous Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. The morning was dark and overcast to begin with, and the air felt a little thick and heavy. Practitioners began to practise the Falun Gong exercises and hold banners and placards, whilst many others handed out materials to passing tourists and locals. Many Chinese tour groups arrived during the course of the morning. Their original intention was of course to see the Brandenburg Gate. But the sight of several hundred Falun Gong practitioners moving in harmony as they practised the gentle and beautiful movements, or sitting peacefully in meditation, surrounded by banners which condemned the persecution of Falun Gong, was the true attraction. Many people from the Chinese tour groups were clearly very surprised to find this additional tourist attraction. As the morning progressed, with practitioners continuously practising the exercises and sending forth righteous thoughts, the sun began to break through the clouds, until by the end of the morning, the sky was mostly blue, and the air felt lighter and clearer. The subtle light of the winter sun illuminated banners and the Brandenburg gate in a beautifully refined way. This activity was to draw attention to the persecution of Falun Gong in China, and was part of a series of activities coinciding with the launch of a lawsuit in Germany charging Jiang Zemin with genocide, crimes against humanity and torture, as well as dangerous bodily harm to Falun Gong practitioners in China. After the practitioners had finished the exercises, they sat or stood quietly, as various speakers took part in a rally with the theme of bringing Jiang to justice. Speaking over a powerful public address system, the voices of the speakers resounded around the square carrying their strong and clear message. After a practitioner had given an account of the crimes of Jiang Zemin and the worldwide efforts to bring him to justice through many lawsuits, Mr Zhao Ming, a post-graduate student in Ireland, gave a speech. One of the plaintiffs in some of the many lawsuits filed against Jiang around the world, Zhao Ming described his experiences of being tortured and detained in labour camps and detention centres for nearly two years in China. As he spoke, he put his experiences in the context of a genocide which has resulted from the orders of the highest authorities in China, and which has been carried out against the will of the people and the government at the hands of Jiang and his senior aides. Ms Zhang Cuiying, a Chinese artist who is also a plaintiff in several lawsuits, also described her experiences during 8 months of detention in China at the hands of the Jiang regime. The final speaker was the European representative of the World Organisation to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong, who catalogued the evidence of Jiang's crimes against Falun Gong.
