4/27 FBI investigates rare US abduction case - Yahoo! News:
        http://www.csua.org/u/ld0
"We have a ransom situation here. In the United States, kidnappings
        for ransom are very rare,"
        Very rare? Really?
\_ Why is that so hard to understand? As much as us motd posters
love to hate America and where it's going, we do have a reasonable
system of laws and law enforcement. If you kidnap someone
for ransom, you're probably not going to be able to use your
ill gotten gains, and you will probably be caught. This is not
the case in certain other parts of the world.
\_ Rare enough that the FBI's Uniform Crime Report doesn't
even list it as a category. You may also want to see
           the Wikipedia entry on "kidnapping."

4/10 Is it just me, or it seems really ironic that a bunch of iconic

AFP FBI investigates rare US abduction case Sat Apr 26, 2:02 PM ET MIAMI (AFP) - FBI agents on Friday said they were investigating the abduction of a 26 year-old airplane pilot in the southern state of Florida. The pilot, identified as Robert Wiles, was kidnapped April 1 at the Lakeland Linder regional airport, near the central Florida city of Tampa, Federal Bureau of Investigations agents said at a press conference with local media. Wiles is in charge of business affairs at a family company that maintains and services airplanes, the Tampa Tribune newspaper reported on its Internet website. In the United States, kidnappings for ransom are very rare," said FBI spokesman David Couvertier.
