Moody's changed the financial strength rating of the company's bank subsidiary, Countrywide Bank, to "D" from "C-." The bank financial strength rating gauges the soundness and stability of the bank. The downgrade reflects constricted liquidity and heavy debt, much of which matures at the end of this year and the beginning of next year. Given the turbulent market, it would be tough for the company to raise the money to pay off the debt, Moody's said.
