3/21 Jack Lalanne: How to be happy (from the 50's) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEboAJf9UVc People have been saying (what we now call hippie stuff) for a while \_ is he gay? as in queer homosexual gay? he's emitting a lot of gay signals, but then again, my gaydar is pretty weak. \_ Despite being born in SF to French immigrant parents, apparently not. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_LaLanne \_ Another good quote: 'LaLanne declared that his two simple rules of nutrition are "if man made it, don't eat it", and "if it tastes good, spit it out." \_ Nah, just French. \_ Do you really care if he's gay or not? I mean, who cares? |

Jack Lalanne - Unhappy people Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Good comment Marked as spam Reply He could say the same thing today. It seems a lot of people believe you need a great deal of 'stuff' to be happy, but the point is not the 'stuff', the point is you being happy. Good comment Marked as spam Reply I like how people burst into song out of nowhere like in old movies of that day, lol. I was always like "if that happened in real life, I'd be pretty happy", but apparently it did. maybe in other countries it does, countries where people aren't thinking only of themselves and such. countries where life is about people, and not personal pleasure. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_LaLanne LaLanne admits that as a child he was addicted to sugar and junk foods. He was very troubled and prone to rages, which led to his attempting to burn down his family's house, as well as chasing his brother with an axe. He also encouraged women to lift weights (in spite of the fact that at the time it was thought this would make women look masculine and unattractive, an idea many people still believe is true). By the 1980s there were more than 200 health clubs bearing his name. KGO-TV and was eventually carried on the entire ABC network nationwide. Critics said the show would be off the air in six weeks, but it lasted 34 years. However, this is about 9 percent of the Juice Tiger models. Another 600,000 units (including all of the French-made models) were not recalled. Richard Simmons for using a regime that seemed to have too fast a pace. Offended, Simmons called to complain about the remarks, but the two instructors resolved their differences enough to occasionally appear on each other's shows. edit Later life At age 93, he continues to work out every morning for two hours. He spends one and a half hours in the weight room, and half an hour swimming or walking. Katie Couric on NBC's Today show, LaLanne declared that his two simple rules of nutrition are "if man made it, don't eat it", and "if it tastes good, spit it out." He often says, "I cannot afford to die, it will ruin my image." Interviewed on his 93rd birthday, he said his feat of strength was going to be "towing my wife across the bathtub". When interviewed afterwards he was quoted as saying that the worst thing about the ordeal was being handcuffed, which reduced his chance to star jump significantly. |
