"As I said before, Lott has quite a bit on his plate right now and I don't really want to add fuel to the embers," Nicholas told Big Head DC.

I mean, really, I get that he's a hypocrite, but come on, let's prove he lied about weapons in the Middle East for gods' sake. It feels like homophobia, all this glee over the idea he (and recent others) may or may not have had sex with a man!

Very Confused said: What's weird about the timing is that Lott could also be leaving because of new ethics rules that go into effect next year. The time before he could become a lobbyist would double to two years. This way he can become a lobbyist a year earlier and stands to gain a lot of money.

As we pointed out a couple of posts down, Trent is quitting at the end of the year. While many have speculated on exactly why he's wuitting, none know for sure. Thanks to Reconstitution friend The Truffle, we've learned yet another reason why Lott may be cutting his Senatorial career short. While looking around tonight to see what the word is on Lott's resignation here's what's out there. When I heard of his resignation it really surprised me, because after being kicked out of the top Republican leadership 4 years ago, he REALLY fought to get back to the top. I couldn't imagine he would just give that up for no good reason.
