5/14 vid of Critical Mass vs minivan in Berkeley.
        I assume jnat took this:
        http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUoUF1JrS98
\_ The voice sounds like him. -tom
\_ And what an idiot. It's clear that the van is trying to escape
from the mob at this point, while the video labels it as "the
attack". Lesson learned. Carry a gun while riding through SF or
Berkeley so you can defend yourself against these nutjobs.
              -emarkp
\- eping: i encourage you to drive around SF and
\- epong: i encourage you to drive around SF and
especially Berkeley armed. if it is not illegal
for me to do so, i will make a donation to the mormon
church for every critical mass person you beat down.--psb
\_ It's "emarkp", and I plan to if I ever go there again.
Though they're both such driver-hostile towns I hate
                    driving there. -emarkp
\- oh somebody else told me to call you eping, so
\- oh somebody else told me to call you epong, so
                       you have been "converted"
\_ I don't know who told you that, but I never asked to
                          be called that. -emarkp
\_ You can carry a gun legally in your car in CA as long as it
is not loaded or concealed. If you have a CCW, you can
carry legally, concealed and loaded. -emarkp
\- yes i know but frankly i'm not really interested in
your legal exposure. just how much it will cost me
based on your volume of beatdowns. --psb
\_ Ah, I misread your post. -emarkp
\_ Yeah that video was pretty lame... these idiots stuff their
bikes all around his car and... what, put little kids in front
of his bumper? I don't understand the crying kids. They were
probably just upset about the bikers yelling and swearing. So
of course the cameraman gratuitously films them... lol
                 http://abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=local&id=5301410
\_ Why carry a gun, emarkp, why not just run someone over, like
you car drivers do every single day in San Francisco? How many
people have cyclists killed or injured in the last decade? How
many have cyclists? If you are planning on assaulting someone,
please stay in your own town and commit crimes. We don't
                want you here. -ausman
\_ USE LINUX! RIDE BIKE! SMASH KIDS!

WheelsOfChange (4 hours ago) marked as spam Ah, untrue, memewhile. You can go to the bclu website and see links to media coverage as it comes in, by the way. We do object to misreporting, lies, discriminatory language, false accusatins, and threats, which have been the primary comments here. BlazeAqua (4 hours ago) marked as spam ' "PS In what are they handicapped?" the fact remains that, they're a handicapped elderly couple. Not exactly the fighting type, and that's exactly the type these activists seek to propagate media stunts for their cause. DN64 (5 hours ago) marked as spam (continued from last comment) WOC, if you are missing parts to the video then too bad so sad your dad, they can be questioned, they can be assumed, they can be disagreed upon because nobody has to believe your side unless you can prove otherwise and that's the bottom line. The more you alienate people like myself, the more you look like the guilty party, even if, as I said, I agree with your cause. DN64 (5 hours ago) marked as spam WOC, I didn't post any death threat to you or anyone else. I commented on the video you DID have and also made a "guess" as to what happened before the video started. In fact, I started off by agreeing with your cause but disagreeing with your methods. If you are going to post your "controversial" video in a public forum on YouTube then expect certain things, be it positive or negative. aussiekwv (5 hours ago) marked as spam PS Clap at last we agree on something Aqua, that The Media Cherrypick and no I didn't say it was okay for The Media to cherrypick. aussiekwv (5 hours ago) marked as spam "PS In what are they handicapped?" But it seems you love The Media Aqua and at least you didn't you abuse as your answers? Memewhile (6 hours ago) marked as spam aussie: Search above for "Many of the worst tyrants and mass murderers of history were his age." Second, to get the link to work, replace the dashes with dots. BlazeAqua (6 hours ago) marked as spam "PS In what are they handicapped?" There has to be a physical mobility problem in order to get those permits in California. Its not like one can hit up eBay and get those placards for themselves. PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 12, 2007 ROAD RAGE AT BERKELEY CRITICAL MASS Police Again Fail to Protect Bicyclists' Rights VIDEO FOOTAGE AND QUALITY AUDIO AVAILABLE Last night just after 8 PM, as dusk approached, a motorist with his wife deliberately ran into the side of the monthly Berkeley Critical Mass bicycle demonstration as they peacefully paraded through town spreading their monthly message about climate change, promoting bicycling and reducing automobile and oil dependency. Three bicycles were destroyed and two demonstrators were injured and bleeding, although they refused medical treatment at the scene. Bicyclists managed to stop the attack when one was able to reach into the van's window and turn off the vehicle. Cyclists were terrified that the driver would continue and crush bicyclists, particularly when they were trapped between their bicycles and the ground. Two bicyclists report the motorist brandished a knife on them. The motorist honked repeatedly and shouted as he attacked. Unfortunately, as all too often happens, police did not protect the rights of the bicyclists despite video evidence showing the attack. Police fabricated that bicyclists were "pushing their bicycles under the car," an outrageous claim. They refused to press charges on behalf of the injured victims. They did not search and impound the motorist's knife, claiming he "had a right to protect his car." Although many felt the motorist was drunk driving, police evidently failed to even run that basic test. The demonstration had already toured much of Berkeley without negative incident, and was returning from a sojourn atop Indian Rock. This exemplifies why there is a need for critical mass demonstrations.

com Go Go Go Controversy Over Berkeley Critical Mass Video Couple Claims Footage Was Staged KGO By Alan Wang May 13 - KGO - The couple involved in an angry confrontation with cyclists taking place on Friday night in Berkeley talked with ABC7 News about what happened. The man who was driving says the cyclists went after him. The driver of a minivan said a Critical Mass cyclist put his cycling cleat through the middle of their windshield and another one broke their windshield wiper. The Critical Mass cyclists say the couple drove their minivan into them as they pedaled through a Berkeley intersection. That portion was not caught on camera but what happened afterwards was captured by a Critical Mass cyclist. Sunday the couple tells ABC7 News they were waiting for a green light at the intersection when they were surrounded by the cyclists who began shouting obscenities and accusing the couple of ramming them. Critical Mass cyclist Jason Meggs who shot the video would only agree to give ABC7 an edited version of the raw footage. Harlan Head, minivan driver: "They wanted some good reason to show that I had attacked them." Harlan Head, minivan driver: "What you did not see in the video, and which is confirmed by independent observers, is that they were putting bicycles under the car." Jason Meggs, Critical Mass amateur photographer: "I thought he was about to break through, really injure people and be gone, and so I wanted to record that so I missed some of the dramatic exchange that was happening on the ground where people were being trapped. Where as one bike got trapped another person came to help get her out of the way and his bike got trapped. Then another person came to help and his bike got trapped and that is how you see three bikes stacked up."
