\_ Cloyne. Looks like things haven't changed much. -emarkp
\- was it the pot or the filthy conditions that lead to the
              problems?
\- I don't know, when we were there I think the people who didn't
want to ingest hallucinogens were smart enough not to partake
in the baked goods being passed around by giggling stoners,
who had been oddly spending too much group time in the kitchen,
and the people who wanted too, tended not to call the cops just
because of a "feeling of doom". In fact, I think "a feeling
of doom" was the encouraged norm at cloyne in our day. -crebbs
\_ I saw no evidence that anyone who didn't want to get high ate
the cookies. My guess is that the cookies were just way too
                 strong and partakers were inexperienced.
\_ hmm, and prone to panicking, o.k. maybe things haven't
                        changed.

When fire crews and police responded to a call Wednesday night at the cooperative next to campus, they found as many as 30 residents -- ages 18 to 25 -- complaining about ill effects they felt after eating the cookies. Authorities say the students complained of symptoms including chest pains, shortness of breath, shaking and anxiety. Twelve people were taken to local hospitals as a precaution. Authorities said it's not clear whether the marijuana in the cookies was tainted or if other substances were in there as well.

Posted: Thursday, 07 September 2006 12:17PM Three Arrests In Cal Pot Cookie Case BERKELEY, Calif. KCBS's Holly Quan reports that 21-year-old Carmen Anderson and 24-year-old Michael Tobias, now enrolled at Berkeley, are facing a variety of charges, including possessing marijuana and mushrooms. A recent graduate, 23-year-old Christopher Portka, has also been arrested and charged in the case. The three were taken into custody by University of California police investigating a batch of marijuana-laced cookies distributed during a party at the Coyne Co-op on Ridge Avenue Wednesday night. About 30 people at the house reported symptoms ranging from anxiety to numbness in the hands and feet, authorities said, after eating either pot cookies or pot cookie dough. A dozen of those victims reported chest pains and were transported to Alta Bates Medical Center for treatment. UC police have submitted cookie crumbs for lab analysis, and expect those test results within two weeks.
