9/5 "Entrant"? What's that supposed to mean?
        http://www.azstarnet.com/sn/border/145198.php
        \_ I don't think I'm going out on a limb here: entrant, n.,
           one who enters.
\_ This is actually kind of interesting, as my uncle's wife's mother
recently got permission to enter the US from Mexico to visit her
daughters (naturalized US citizens). They had to prove that she
would have significant financial support if she somehow decided to
stay, and they also had to show that she owned her own house in
Mexico and thus had a strong incentive to return. And then, even
though she had only applied to visit, they went ahead and offered
her permission to work anyway. So Entrant-rights might be somewhat
different from immigrant-rights... or perhaps not. --erikred
\_ what? she applied for a B-2 visa and they offered to give her
              a green card?
\_ She had filled out the forms for the visit. There was a check
box that she could check if she intended to work. The consular
agent suggested that she go ahead and check that box, just in
                 case she wanted to work.
\_ did the checkbox lead to anything else besides a B-2 visa?
\_ this is why I am so pissed at the immigtration policy. we put
so much constraint to those who trying to enter/leave US via
the legal means, while we don't punish those who cross the
              border illegally.

2/26 I have dual citizenship. If I leave US and enter country Z, is
there a way I can make the immigration booth "stamp" both passports
(not necessarily stamp, but electronically record) such that both
countries know that I left US for country Z. Then, when I depart
country Z and head back to US, only provide the US passport? I'd
like to do this so country Z thinks that I am permanently residing

4/8 In addition to below, can someone recommend a movie or soap
opera that describes the life of Kangxi Emperor? Netflix = useless.
Mandarin is fine as long as there's subtitle. Thanks.
\_ Not exactly a soap opera, but Kangxi Di Guo is a very good TV series
featuring Chen Dao-Ming as Kangxi. Whether or not it's accurate to
           history is another matter, though.

Police estimated that about 900 immigrant-rights supporters were at the rally at any one time during the day. They did not have an estimate on how many they think came and left throughout the four-hour event. Organizers, on the other hand, estimated that 3,000 people demonstrated at any one time and that altogether 5,000 showed up. All the estimates are a far cry from the 10,000 people organizers had hoped to attract. "We're pretty disappointed," said Alfredo Gutierrez, an immigrant-rights activist who helped organize the event. Others who helped organize the event downplayed the numbers, saying they never planned to have a turnout similar to an immigrant-rights march that attracted 100,000 demonstrators in Phoenix on April 10. "We already demonstrated our capacity on April 10," said Roberto Reveles, president of Somos America, or We Are America, the group that organized Monday's rally. "The goal here today was to remind Congress and the public that Congress should be hanging its head in shame -- to remind Congress on Labor Day of its failure to do its job." As it considers massive changes in immigration policy, Congress is divided over whether to focus solely on border security or whether to offer immigrants the chance to become US citizens. One girl, Ana Gonzales, 13, of Phoenix, held a giant American flag with her 7-year-old sister and in Spanish chanted, "Hispanics united will not be defeated!" "My parents are illegal and we want to stay here," said Gonzales, who was born in Arizona and spoke through tears. I know people want to throw us out, but we're going to stay, and if they send us away, we're going to come back over and over again." The rally also drew 100 advocates for limiting immigration. Although some counter-protesters shouted, "Go back home" and walked through a crowd of immigrant supporters, no confrontations occurred. Michelle Dallacroce, found-er and president of Mothers Against Illegal Aliens, said the government has sold out its people in not adequately confronting illegal immigration. "These people are violating our laws, and they are taking away what belongs to Americans," Dallacroce said. "They come down here on our Labor Day and march on our Capitol.
