Jose Lambiet Palm Beach Post Columnist Wednesday, February 15, 2006 She may be smart enough to earn millions from her acidic political barbs, but when it comes to something as simple as voting in her tiny hometown, hard-core conservative pundit Ann Coulter is a tad confused. Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections records show Coulter voted last week in Palm Beach's council election. Problem is: She cast her ballot in a precinct 4 miles north of the precinct where she owns a home -- and that could be a big no-no.
enlarge Paris Hilton, who turns 25 this week, has been spending some down time in Miami Beach. When Hilton isn't busy peddling a $100,000 watch and a pricey perfume -- not to mention doing tequila shots at club Mansion -- the star of Fox's The Simple Life chills on the beach near her hotel, Shore Club. Tourists got a glimpse of the bespectacled vixen Sunday.
Instead, records show, she voted in Precinct 1196, at the northern tip of the island. That's three months after she bought the home and moved to Palm Beach from Manhattan. Here's the sticky part for The Right's Lady Macbeth: She wrote down an Indian Road address instead of Seabreeze on her voter's registration application. "She never lived here," said Suzanne Frisbie, owner of the Indian Road home. "I'm Ann's Realtor, and she used this address to forward mail when she moved from New York." But the blond GOP pit bull's former agent, Joani Evans, last year told Page Two Coulter left NYC to escape stalkers. Is a desire to hold on to privacy the reason she gave the wrong address? No matter, Florida statutes make it a third-degree felony to vote knowingly in the wrong precinct. Lying on a voter's registration can cost up to $5,000 and five years behind bars. "We're not a policing agency," says Elections Chief Deputy Charmaine Kelly. "You do not have to show proof that you live at your address. But when you sign the registration application, you also take an oath that everything you wrote is the truth. "If someone brings us proof that a person falsified a registration, we'll check into it, then refer the matter to the state attorney's office if necessary." NICE SPECS, PARIS Paris Hilton, who turns 25 this week, has been spending some down time in Miami Beach. When Hilton isn't busy peddling a $100,000 watch and a pricey perfume - not to mention doing tequila shots at club Mansion - the star of Fox's The Simple Life chills on the beach near her hotel, Shore Club. ROUND TABLE ROUGHHOUSE Power play at one of The Island's most prestigious groups: Al Cohen, vice president of the Palm Beach Round Table, resigned last week after a tiff with group president Etonella Christlieb. The discussion-and-learning group has been symbol of posh gentility for its 70-plus years. Yet Cohen and Christlieb were anything but genteel at a board meeting last week. Then, a source tells me, Cohen used an unkind word that usually describes a mean chick. "This is the sort of stuff that happens," said chair Herme de Wyman Miro. I'm told Christlieb just didn't like Cohen's nitpicking questions about a March luncheon to honor philanthropist Alex Dreyfoos and distribute scholarships to graduating high schoolers. Speaking of Paris Hilton: Her mom and dad, hotel heirs Rick and Kathy Hilton, spent a romantic Valentine's Day at The Breakers on Palm Beach . How much does Extreme Makeover: Home Edition star Ty Pennington actually work? If his exercise regimen is telling, it's clear that the hundreds of volunteers that ABC uses for its makeover projects are the ones who pull the heavy load. A spywitness tells me Pennington, now rebuilding a Riviera Beach home after revamping the Boynton Little League stadium, turned up at LA Fitness in Boynton Beach over the weekend. iPod on full blast, a tanned and visibly rested Pennington worked out like a fiend for more than an hour. Now that Revlon boss Ron Perelman and actress Ellen Barkin are headed to the nearest divorce court in NYC, I'm told by a source in Perelman's camp to expect the financier to move back to Palm Beach after the ink on their settlement is dry. Sea of Love star Barkin was famously so-not-into this area, once noting to a Page Two spy that Palm Beach was full of "little old people in wheelchairs." Crooner Frankie Valle made a pasta pit stop at Cucina on The Island after his Kravis show Sunday . TV red carpet interviewer and funnywoman Joan Rivers will be the keynote speaker of the Kids Sanctuary luncheon Feb.
