"She extended Martin's message against poverty, racism and war. She
deplored the terror inflicted by our smart bombs on missions way afar.
We know now that there were no weapons of mass destruction over there,"
        Lowery said.
The mostly black crowd applauded, then rose to its feet and cheered in
        a two-minute-long standing ovation.
A closed-circuit television in the mega-church outside Atlanta showed
        the president smiling uncomfortably. ...
\_ fyi, for posterity, according to the CNN video, the applause lasted
for ~ 15 seconds, and the reverend didn't appear to expect it.
also, it appears the applause was much greater for Bill Clinton. -op
\_ This is precisely why Drudge is useless. Did he "nod his head
toward the row of presidents..." on the "misdirection" line in
              your viewing?

11/6 By a 2:1 ratio Americans think that the Iraq war was not worth it:
        http://www.pollingreport.com/iraq.htm
\_ Bad conservatives. You should never change your mind, and you
           should never admit mistakes.
\_ Most "tea party" conservatives still support the war. It is the
weak-kneed moderates that have turned against America.

\_ War is fought for the glory of generals and the economics of the
war machine. Looking for "justifications" for it is like looking
for sense in the necronomicon. Just accept it and move on.

2/20 Ok serious question, NOT political. This is straight up procedural.
Has it been declared that we didn't find WMD in iraq? (think so).
So why did we go into iraq (what was the gain), and if nobody really
knows, why is nobody looking for the reason?
\_ Political stability, military strategy (Iran), and to prevent
           Saddam from financing terrorism.

The show "Merci pour l'info" (Thanks for the news) obtained the footage, seen by an AFP correspondent, from a "European working as a subcontractor for the US army" who left Iraq two weeks ago. The man claims to have hidden the tape, dated December 1, 2003 and filmed at an unidentified location in Iraq, at the US base where he lived and worked. The three-and-a-half minutes of footage were taken from the helicopter firing at the three individuals, who were considered by the US military to be suspicious. Conversations between the helicopter pilot, the sharpshooter and their commanding officer -- who had a video link and is giving orders in real time -- can be heard on the tape. The footage shows how the three men were killed one after the other. After the deaths of his two companions, the third attempted to hide under a truck, but was hit by helicopter gunfire.
