He started by issuing a grandiose apology for telling his vie wers that Saddam had WMD; he then repeatedly announced that the Iraqis w erent grateful for their liberation; and most recently hes had cartoon ish military analyst David Hunt on almost every day to tell us how hor ribly things are going in Iraq. Hunt advocated the open murder by U S forces of Shiite clerics about a month after Saddam fell. This would set an example to the others and k eep them in line. Another guy with books to sell, a wildly overinflated sense of self, and a pathological envy of Donald Rumsfeld.

Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) i ncluded in a Senate Finance Committee tax bill a provision that some ha ve characterized as a backdoor windfall tax on large oil companies. T he committee, which Grassley chairs, passed the bill Tuesday evening. So meone please keep the government away from my gas tank, please?

You have a kidnapping in Colorado and OR says I lived in Colorado and this is the way it is. You have a story about school and OR is I was a teacher for 10 years and this is the way it is. He has Kearns Goodwin or that chooch Brinkley on and OR is Im an historian and this is the way it is. You have the gasol ine jag that he is now on and he says I have guys on the inside and thi s is the way it is. Is there nothing on which he is not an expert with actual first-hand experience? OR is great TV most of the time, but jeez, is he hard to take sometimes. I just cant wait until he says something like: I actually sexually h arassed an underling and this in the way it is.

Hi s anger was real (and, believe it or not, uncommon), and he seemed to as k a lot of pretty good questions of his guests. As with any good thing in this brave new America, as soon as word got out and his ratings started climbing, OR started playing to what he though t was his audience. Now all I see is a cock battle between OR and Stern over who has the big gest ego, and who can most shamelessly promote themselves. Just goes to show that all good things eventually turn to shit.

I dont see how taking money away from oil companies and giving it to the government is going to lower the price of gas, or my taxes. Since gove rnments make twice the profits of the oil companies, will they investiga te themselves first?

Oh by the way, the latest explanation, in response to a comment of mine a t Jane Galts, is that they thought it would be easy to invade, set up a Chalabi puppetry and steal the oil, but the brave insurgents forced us to bring true democracy which is sure to fail and Bushs Texas friends w ont get to steal the oil after all.

Hes figu red out that being economically ignorant (at least in his public comment s) pays better with his target market than being more evenhanded and eco nomically literate. Of course, I could be wrong and he could merely be a fool. But, he appear s pretty shrewd at least in terms of marketing, so I doubt hes a fool.
