this illuminating exchange between FOXNews business gu ru Neil Cavuto and populist egomaniac Bill OReilly: CAVUTO: Okay. s w ho manipulated them CAVUTO: Why are you sure that they manipulated them? OREILLY: I have guys that are inside the five major oil companies - my father used to work for one of those oil companies, by the way - who ha ve told me that in those meetings they look for every way to jack up oi l prices after Katrina, every way. And they g ot scared because in my reporting and some other reporting, they said CAVUTO: Wait, youre taking credit for gas prices being down? CAVUTO: Has nothing to do with refineries that came back online or the c risis calmed after the hurricanes? OREILLY: The demand for oil in this country is the same now as it was o ne day after Hurricane Katrina. And thats no small sacrifice, eitherbecause between looking ou t for both the folks and the children, he can barely find time lately to whack off during uninvited phone sex with his underlings... permalink on 12/05 at 04:03 PM No one has done more to undermine the mission in Iraq than Bill Loofah OReilly. He started by issuing a grandiose apology for telling his vie wers that Saddam had WMD; he then repeatedly announced that the Iraqis w erent grateful for their liberation; and most recently hes had cartoon ish military analyst David Hunt on almost every day to tell us how hor ribly things are going in Iraq. Hunt advocated the open murder by U S forces of Shiite clerics about a month after Saddam fell. This would set an example to the others and k eep them in line. Another guy with books to sell, a wildly overinflated sense of self, and a pathological envy of Donald Rumsfeld. permalink on 12/05 at 04:26 PM I just wish we could keep our senatros from listening to OReilly- this Backdoor windfall tax is freaking me out. Just when the market is final ly correcting itself congress seems poised to snatch defeat from the jaw s of victory. NEW YORK (CNN/Money) Theres been a heated debate going on around the Beltway about whether to impose a windfall profit tax on the oil industry, which has profited handsomely from soaring oil prices earlier this year. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) i ncluded in a Senate Finance Committee tax bill a provision that some ha ve characterized as a backdoor windfall tax on large oil companies. T he committee, which Grassley chairs, passed the bill Tuesday evening. So meone please keep the government away from my gas tank, please? permalink on 12/05 at 04:30 PM Am I the only one who notices that no matter the issue, not matter the lo cale, OReilly is always on the spot. You have a kidnapping in Colorado and OR says I lived in Colorado and this is the way it is. You have a story about school and OR is I was a teacher for 10 years and this is the way it is. He has Kearns Goodwin or that chooch Brinkley on and OR is Im an historian and this is the way it is. You have the gasol ine jag that he is now on and he says I have guys on the inside and thi s is the way it is. Is there nothing on which he is not an expert with actual first-hand experience? OR is great TV most of the time, but jeez, is he hard to take sometimes. I just cant wait until he says something like: I actually sexually h arassed an underling and this in the way it is. permalink on 12/05 at 04:38 PM When are they going to open up OReillys forehead for cheese-drilling? That would triple the countrys cheese supply and make us less dependent on the French and other foreign cheese suppliers. permalink on 12/05 at 04:43 PM Too bad Blll OReilly cant breed with Giant Pandas. Only good would come out of such a coupling - either thered be more Gian t Pandas which would take them off the endangered species list or the re sult would be so hideous that wed kill off all the Giant Pandas just to prevent it from happening again. Either way, I think we should stick Bill OReilly in a Giant Panda pen wi th a female Giant Panda. permalink on 12/05 at 05:13 PM Good thing I read about this story on Cafe Hayek, otherwise Id think som e of these Protein Wisdom posters actually watch OReilly. Geez, read a book or something cause Mr Self-promoting, whos lookin o ut for you, is just looking out for his ratings as he babbles his way th rough the hour. permalink on 12/05 at 05:35 PM Back when OR was just a pissant beginner at Fox, he was fun to watch. Hi s anger was real (and, believe it or not, uncommon), and he seemed to as k a lot of pretty good questions of his guests. As with any good thing in this brave new America, as soon as word got out and his ratings started climbing, OR started playing to what he though t was his audience. Now all I see is a cock battle between OR and Stern over who has the big gest ego, and who can most shamelessly promote themselves. Just goes to show that all good things eventually turn to shit. permalink on 12/05 at 05:54 PM Between Bill and Congress weve got both enough hot air to explain global warming, and enough potential to heat all homes in the US and Canada fo r the entire winter. I dont see how taking money away from oil companies and giving it to the government is going to lower the price of gas, or my taxes. Since gove rnments make twice the profits of the oil companies, will they investiga te themselves first? permalink on 12/05 at 06:09 PM I have guys that are inside the afterlife - my father used to work for Ga briel, by the way - who have told me that God wants Bill OReilly killed . permalink on 12/05 at 06:44 PM How can anyone believe this and not also believe we invaded Iraq to steal their oil? Oh by the way, the latest explanation, in response to a comment of mine a t Jane Galts, is that they thought it would be easy to invade, set up a Chalabi puppetry and steal the oil, but the brave insurgents forced us to bring true democracy which is sure to fail and Bushs Texas friends w ont get to steal the oil after all. permalink on 12/05 at 07:50 PM Hey, Bill: I tip my Hooters waitress like a fargin oil sheik and still all I get is beer and wings! Yet they still just smile as they do with everyone, and always seem to be backing away from the table slowly prior to running for the manager. permalink on 12/05 at 07:57 PM I liked this comment over at Cafe Hayek: I think the exchange shows that OReilly is extremely rational. Hes figu red out that being economically ignorant (at least in his public comment s) pays better with his target market than being more evenhanded and eco nomically literate. Of course, I could be wrong and he could merely be a fool. But, he appear s pretty shrewd at least in terms of marketing, so I doubt hes a fool. permalink on 12/05 at 08:40 PM Might I suggest keeping the little Scape-Goat Trainee covered when you ti p them? I got carried away like that once myself and have since lea rned that its possible for an entire franchise to take a restraining or der out on me.
