1/4 Why the fascination with blowing up airplanes? Airports have tight
security. It doesn't seem worth it. It's far easier to derail a
train or set off explosives in a crowded place like a theater or
sporting event. As many or more people will be killed and it will
still make the news. I don't get why all of our security, and
apprently much of the terrorist's resources, is focused on airplanes.

Sue Myrick (R-NC) let slip a bombshell disclosure at a news confer ence today to announce a bill targeting states that allow illegal aliens to get drivers licenses. During the Q&A with reporters, Myrick gave as a reason for proposing the bill the recent capture of three al Qaeda terrorists at the US-Mexico border. Two Representatives from North Carolina, Virginia Foxx and Patrick Mc Henry stood with Myrick at the press conference. the statement is made at about 8:45 into the press conference. A call placed to Myrick's office in DC was not answered as the office i s closed for the evening. I mean they just arrested down on the border, what a couple of w eeks ago, three al Qaeda members who came across from Mexico into the Un ited States. View Replies To: kristinn "Our main concern is, who's in our state? I mean they just arrested down on the border, what a couple of w eeks ago, three al Qaeda members who came across from Mexico into the Un ited States. I, too, would like to kno w when and where this happened! View Replies To: kristinn We need SWARMS of Unmanned Ariel Vehicles over the border, scanning 24/7. If we get nuked, NO administration, no matter how patriotic, can hope for political survival, if they continue this unmanned border INSANITY. Stellar Dendrite During the Q&A with reporters, Myrick gave as a reason for proposing the bill the recent capture of three al Qaeda terrorists at the US-Mexico border. View Replies To: kristinn "Disinformation" by Richard Miniter is an excellent book, with one huge e xception: one of his "myths" is that terrorists might come across the US /Mexico border. View Replies To: RouxStir It would definitely help if there weren't so many appeasors in the US, whose behaviors/comments remind me so much, of late, of the frenchies. View Replies To: gaijin "unmanned borders" is not the cause. Although some people will make it their soap box or agenda allowin g them to trash Bush, blah blah blah. If you think that the border is the cause, you're wrong. They have been breaking up terror cells in the USA ever since Bush began our war on terrorism. It is exactly how he sa id it would be in the address to congress he gave the week after the 9-1 1 attacks; that there would be victories that are in the news and many t hat are not. Many of these people are already living in our towns and making a living while planning a killing. Much safer to come in on a student or work visa from the middle east a nd get lost in the system and overstay your welcome. Heck it's about all the Homeland dept does anymore is round up people who aren't supposed t o be here (expired student visas, etc) and sending them out. View Replies To: gaijin What did Bubba say yesterday about them all being PRODUCTIVE STUDENTS.... What did Jorge say about them being just good hearted people trying to su pport their families? View Replies To: RedBloodedAmerican Many of these people are already living in our towns and making a living while planning a killing. So let's, by all means, continue keeping the BACK DOOR WIDE OPEN TO 'EM. View Replies To: kristinn "Our main concern is, who's in our state? I mean they just arrested down on the border, what a couple of w eeks ago, three al Qaeda members who came across from Mexico into the Un ited States. For those who still do not believe that our bord ers are gateways for terrorists, please sit up and take notice. If this information is true, some folks deserve an old-fashioned spanking for be ing so ignorant or stubborn about this issue. View Replies To: kristinn "Our main concern is, who's in our state? View Replies To: MizSterious "Disinformation" by Richard Miniter is an excellent book, with one huge e xception: one of his "myths" is that terrorists might come across the US /Mexico border. I'm not quite sure this "proves it" but I know one thing, if I were a ter rorist, I know how I'd try to get in. View Replies To: kristinn There may be a news blackout on this. If I were in charge of DHS, one thi ng I'd want is to get some of those creeps, hold them, interrogate them, find out what and who else they know, before the unhelpful and adversar ial press got word and spread it around for all the terrorists to see. I know the MLM are the holiest of holies, but, you gotta draw the line so mewhere. protecting the US or letting some self-appointed "press hero" screw it up for the sake of Freedom of the Press. View Replies To: RouxStir How in the hell do we get our senators and representatives to close the b orders? Drag them, kicking and screaming, down there, and TIE them to the pitiful excuse for a border we have. I agree with Bush and his efforts to secure the borders. IIRC he has spent more than his predecessor on the situation. It was a wreck when h e came to Office, and I think he will set it in better order by 2008 tha n when he arrived in 2000. View Replies To: RouxStir How in the hell do we get our senators and representatives to close the b orders? Unfortunately, another terrorist attack may be the only thing that will g et our senators and representatives, and a few here on FR, to finally ac knowledge the dangers of our open borders. View Replies To: ozarkgirl I'm not quite sure this "proves it" but I know one thing, if I were a ter rorist, I know how I'd try to get in. Why go through this process when you can obtain a VISA much more easily? While I am not saying that it isn't possible, the terrorists ARE going to take what's given to them. Why send your operatives in the hard way w hen the easy way is just as wide open? View Replies To: OldFriend What does that have to do with cost of tea in China? You don't make excuses for those leaving the country vulnerable to crimin als by leaving doors wide open. View Replies To: RedBloodedAmerican "If you think that the border is the cause, you're wrong." If you think the border is not the cause, you must be profitering from th e alien invaders. View Replies To: MikeinIraq Good point, Mike, and I suspect most AQ operatives already here came in l egally. that Mohammed woman who was arrested in McAllen Texas walked acros s the Rio Grande carrying $8,000 cash and an altered South African passp ort. The fact is, they're coming in any way they think they can. Chances are p retty good she was on a watch list that prevented her from coming in on a visa. like I said the border way is certainly possible, but it involves more co mplications than other ways do. Some of it is simply not adjusting the laws and regs to the times, some of it is pure slovenly government and part of it is, we ll I don't know what it is, dereliction comes to mind. View Replies To: kristinn In the interviews of "experts" in the security field on Fox today regardi ng the danger of an attack here, a couple of them opined that the hard p art would be getting into the country, but we have many soft targets aft er that. I almost fell off the sofa to hear any so-called "expert" say t hat it would be hard to get into the country when caravans of illegals e nter over the Mexican border day and night. View Replies To: kristinn The question is whether Myrick knows what she's talking about. There's no IQ or competency test required before becoming a congressman, and I don 't believe I'm familiar with her. View Replies To: RedBloodedAmerican I don't think you have to choose between one source of danger or the othe r Sure, some terrorists are already in place, living and working in var ious parts of our country. Others have come in from Canada, with Seattle and Detroit as probably the major entry points. This is partly a Border Patrol problem, partly a Homeland Security proble m, but we shouldn't let our guard down with either. We also need to watch out for prison conversions and for radical mosques and madrassahs that seek to make youthful converts to jihad. last Disclaimer: Opinions posted on Free Republic are those of the individual posters and do not necessarily represent the opinion of Free Republic or its management.
