youthgonewild Discuss the results of the Virginia election as results come in. The gove rnor's race is especially important, but there are also races for Lieute nant Governor and Attorney General.
View Replies To: slowhand520 I don't want to celebrate prematurely, but it looks like the pollsters ma y soon go out of business based on their recent records.
View Replies To: Dolphy The Virginia elections site does not seem to break down results by county . For all I know Fairfax h as already reported and is skewing the results.
View Replies To: navysealdad I was just looking at the same site, it looks pretty depressing but there 's no indication of where these votes are coming from so it's really imp ossible to draw conclusions yet.
View Replies To: Dolphy I grew up in Virginia, but haven't lived there for umpteen years. I can t ell you that Northern Virginia is comparable to New York city and the th e rest of their respective states. Huge, liberal population center versu s smaller more conservative population centers that cover most of the st ate's land mass.
View Replies To: crasher Probably, but I don't know the pattern of Virginia vote counting. If it i ncludes all the absentees, then yes, it should be over.
There is no official breakout of where the votes are coming from, but I would make a GUESS that early results are from lower popula tion areas which tend to be more Republican. On the other hand, in Northern Virginia, which has a very high population density and tends Democratic, they have electronic voting machines in m ost (maybe all) precincts. It seems that it ought to be quick to tabulat e and verify electronically counted votes.
View Replies To: skaterboy GOPers always blame it on the candidate. We just can't face up to the fac t that the lefties are gaining ground on us.
View Replies To: Brilliant Northern Virginia is the "inside the beltway crowd." Probably 50% or more of the Washington Post staff and 35% or more Federal employees live in Northern Virginia.
View Replies To: Torie It is just interesting to watch the data change as events change. Gives y ou a sense of how a low volume, not yet mature, market reacts to events.
View Replies To: crasher This race has been over for a half an hour now. Earl won Chesterfield county by 15 percent and lost to Warner by 4 percen t Kilgore won by 8 percent. Kaine won and unless republicans stop beating eachother up instead of uni ting we will get our asses kicked across the board. But he ran the death penalty ad ag ainst kaine and republicans ran from him. Do you think the dems are goin g to be running from Corzine because of his campaign. There are too many republicans looking to send a message but in the meantime we get a liberal instead of a good c onservative.
they could all be Democrat areas for all we kno w I'd like to know where the reporting isn't coming from. Does Virginia hav e a history of reporting certain precints last until they know how many votes they need to win?
