        How ironic.
        \_ Why is that ironic?
\_ A bus agency employee had her arrested.
\_ Yeah, that's not ironic. It was done as a salute to her
*because* of the action she took.
\_ That might be ironic if it was an AC Transit employee.
\_ I liked the guy on The Daily Show "boy.. times have changed since
Rosa Parks' day... white people used to ride the bus!"

To honor Ms Parks' effort to desegregate the public bus system in Montgom ery, Alabama, in 1955, the directors have decreed that all AC Transit op erations will come to halt at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, November 2 The w ork stoppage will last for one minute, allowing the agency's employees a nd passengers a moment to reflect on Parks' quiet, solitary gesture that stopped Montgomery bus business as usual, and changed the direction of public transit in every corner of the nation. By daring to just sit down, Ms Parks, who died at age 92 last week, ignit ed a movement of civil and social justice that swept across America and reverberated worldwide in a firestorm of righteous indignation. "The Board felt it was important to pass this resolution honoring Ms Park s' achievement and her role in giving birth to the Civil Rights Movement , but also because her act served to integrate public bus transit servic es in this country," said Director Dennis Hayashi." The fact that her ac tion was taken on a bus is something that we, as board members of one of the largest bus services in the country, believe is very important to r emember at this time."
