4/7 Along the lines of Indiana Jones, I recently watched the two new
Bond movies back-to-back (Casino Royale and QoS). Most critics
liked the first and were lukewarm on the second. However, I
thought QoS was far more enjoyable. I'm not a big Bond fan, but I
like Daniel Craig and his brooding, reckless Bond without a lot of
        gadgetry appealed to me.

How Craig beat his rivals By Alexa Baracaia, Evening Standard 14 October 2005 The new James Bond was officially unveiled today - along with the secret of how he beat his rivals to the plum role. British actor Daniel Craig was confirmed as the sixth 007. He will be the first blond Bond - and, at 6ft, the shortest. But according to a leaked memo from film producers, Craig was head and sh oulders above his rivals for the part. Hugh Jackman, it read, was "too fey", Colin Farrell "too sleazy", Eric Ba na "not handsome enough" - and Ewan McGregor "too short" at 5ft10. The email, from Cubby Broccoli's Eon Productions, added that Barbara Broc coli had championed Craig. Despite not having the "full head of black hair" described by Ian Fleming , the Chester-born actor is probably closest in build and character to t he author's vision. In From Russia With Love, Bond's file reads: "Height , 183cm (6ft); Craig, 37, is 78kg, with blue eyes - and a definite penchant for women. He was implicated in the latest bust-up between Jude Law and Sienna Mille r - he allegedly had a fling with the actress - and he has also dated Ka te Moss. His "lounge lizard" style is perfectly suited to the part, although he is an ex-secondary modern pupil rather than a former public school boy. Craig has said of the Bond job: "You'd have to be stupid not to consider something like that. But there's an awful lot of pros and an awful lot o f cons. It would go Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy D alton, Pierce Brosnan... "I wouldn't want to have to carry the rap for destroying such an amazing sequence." News that Craig has the part leaked out from his mother, who told neighbo urs on the Wirral. He has worked extremely hard al l his life and this would be his biggest populist role.
