10/6 Is there a UNIX command line that uses an SMTP server to send out
        email? Something like:
        prompt> mail joe@blogspot.com -smtp_server <DEAD>smtp.yahoo.com<DEAD> -user
                  sam@yahoo.com -password abcdefg
        \_ ObUseTelnet
\_ Theres probably more modern tools, but 11 years ago I downloaded
~mehlhaff/bin/mailforge.sh, which I've never actually used.
The trick is finding an open SMTP relay that will let you use it.
           -ERic
\_ http://esmtp.sourceforge.net I think this is the esmtp I use
with a ~/.esmtprc that does what you describe. -ax

9/9 What should outbound mail server be when reading mail from soda

11/18 Say I've written a pcap-based program which pulls out the message

7/14 Help sendmail experts. I forward email from my own domain to
http://gmail.com. I have never had any problem until recently. The problem
happens only when eBay sends an email to my domain (as
member@ebay.com). I receive the mail on my domain/my machine, and
when it tries to forward to gmail, I get the following:

esmtp.sourceforge.net
Links Introduction esmtp is a user configurable relay-only Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) with a sendmail compatible syntax. It's based on libESMTP supporting the AUTH ( including the CRAM-MD5 and NTLM SASL mechanisms) and the StartTLS SMTP e xtensions. Allow to send out local mail as remote mail by adding a qualifying domain name. Drop possible admin-added sgid priveleges to be dropped after reading the config. Features These are the esmtp features: * fully sendmail command line compatible, * supports the AUTH SMTP extension, with the CRAM-MD5 and NTLM SASL mec hanisms, * support the StartTLS SMTP extension, * requires no administration privileges, * individual user configuration, * does not receive mail, expand aliases or manage a queue. To do esmtp already fulfills all my needs, and I don't plan to spend much more time on it besides bug fixing. Here is a list of what can still be done: * Alias expansion. procmail: a MDA which can be used to sort your incoming mail into separate folders/files, preprocess your mail, start any programs upon mail arrival or selectively forward certain incoming mail automatically to someone.
