10/1 Can someone explain what exactly the term "thirty ought six" means?
Google does not help me since I don't know how to write that
        numerically.
\_ I've found forcing wikipedia on google helps a lot.

           \_ Thanks!
\_ Next time just call a gun store and admit you are interested in
this non-PC (at least in CA) sport. BTW This will go thru
most police body armor like hot knife thru butter.
\_ just about any ammo from a rifle will go through
              any sort of body armor.

edit Performance The 30-06 is a powerful round designed in an age when 1000 yard shots cou ld be expected. The former standard issue M2 Ball ammunition, issued in the US and any other country that used US weapons, fired a 150 grain (9. Many modern loadings exceed 200 grains (13 g) in bullet weight, but slower burning powders are used in such loa ds. Owners and users of US issue semi-automatic weapons are advised to k eep as close to the M2 standard as possible, and to not exceed 175 to 18 0 grain (11 to 12 g) bullets; otherwise the slower burning powders will put too much pressure on the gas piston, bending the operating rod and c ausing the gun to become inaccurate until repaired.
