        \_ Looks remarkably like KDE.
\_ BSW used to hire great numbers of UCB coop students. They were
in the building right next to the Berkeley BART station.
\_ BSW, later GeoWorks and then Geoworks, used to hire only co-ops
\_ BSW, later GeoWorks and now Geoworks, used to hire only co-ops
and only from Cal for engineers in its early days. The first VP
Engr started as a co-op. It was 1995 (when the dot-com boom
started?) when it had to resort to hiring fresh grads and hiring
from other schools. The company was in the penthouse of the
Great Western Bank building next to BART. The bank logo at its
              entrance was, incidentally, "GW".
\_ I remember all the typefaces were named after streets in
Berkeley. There was a pc version that I ran on my first
                 laptop--a tandy 286.
\_ I think the latest version is available through

12/15 Does anyone have experience investing in apartment buildings
I'm not really looking to invest, but I want an apartment
to live in, and I'm not happy with the leases I'm encountering
for instance one requires 2 years of tax returns with the
application. I'm in a position to buy a building, but I've
got no experience with this, and I don't want to learn that

geoIntroduction: GEOS, the Graphical Environment Operating System, was introduced by GeoWo rks (then Berkeley Softworks) back in 1986 as an integrated GUI interfac e for Commodore 8-bit computers (among others). It features true point a nd click technology, with drag and drop access to file copying, printing , and deleting. As an integrated environment, applications can easily share th eir data with cut-and-paste ease. WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) implementations, and access to text and photo scraps, make professional desktop publishing a reality for Commodore computers. A versatile drive r-based system ensures that new printers, pointing devices, and disk dri ves will continue to be supported. The last version of GEOS (version 20 ) was released in 1988 with support for computer Ram Expansion Units. Th is meant that disk caching, access to multiple drive types, greater appl ication space, and task-switching all became possible. Since this time, support for GEOS has come principally from th ird party distributors (like Creative Micro Designs), and hobbiest progr ammers, notably Maurice Randall, Irv Cobb, MegaCom, and others. Some fan tastic applications have been written, and continue to be developed for GEOS, including FAX software, browsers, desktop publishing applications, and much more. This page is dedicated to this amazing little operating system, and all the fantastic possibilities it provides for Commodore 8- bit computer users.
