Ernest_at_the_Beach Documents Tell of Brutal Improvisation by GIs Interrogated General's Sleeping-Bag Death, CIA's Use of Secret Iraqi Squad AreAmong Details By Josh White Washington Post Staff Writer Wednesday, August 3, 2005; Abed Hamed Mowhoush was being stubborn with his American captors, and a series of intense beatings and creative interrogation tac tics were not enough to break his will. It was inside the sleeping bag that the 56-year-old detainee took his las t breath through broken ribs, lying on the floor beneath a US soldier in Interrogation Room 6 in the western Iraqi desert. Two days before, a secret CIA-sponsored group of Iraqi paramilitaries, working with Army in terrogators, had beaten Mowhoush nearly senseless, using fists, a club a nd a rubber hose, according to classified documents.
View Replies To: Ernest_at_the_Beach The sleeping-bag interrogation and beatings were taking place in Qaim abo ut the same time that soldiers at Abu Ghraib, outside Baghdad, were usin g dogs to intimidate detainees, putting women's underwear on their heads , forcing them to strip in front of female soldiers and attaching at lea st one to a leash. I swear, I put these "torture" stories up against what we read about Sadd am Hussein's soldiers, Nazi guards, Cuban soldiers, and I just LAUGH OUT LOUD at what these left-wing gerbil-strokers call "torture."
That was a man responsible for the deaths of countless people. Some people are sub-human and should be treated as such. MSM and Lib's can just go shove that where the sun don't shine.
View Replies To: Ernest_at_the_Beach If only they were this interested in protecting Americans instead of accu sed terrorists, 9-11 might never have happened. But I guess since they k now they are being protected by the very military they castigate, they h ave no problem dumping on our guys, as opposed to these "innocents" they kvetch over, who would lop off their heads without hesitation for makin g the slightest criticism. Forget journalist ethics or whatever they hide behind--don't these people know who the REAL enemies are? Or are they convinced that if they conti nue to behave as sources for Al Jazeera propaganda that they will be tre ated with well once the eeeeevil Bush is routed and the joint Islamofasc ist-Democrat-Socialist government takes over?

David Horowitz has answered that question thoroughly a nd convincingly in his Unholy Alliance. Where I felt bewildered and conf used, I now feel crystal clear. It begins with the leftist movements at the beginning of the 20th Century , and works its way up to the present day, exploring the anti-American a ttitude of these movements in detail. Horowitz shows that the enemies of the US back then are largely the same group today, operating under the same misperceptions, making the same mistakes, and pursuing the same imp ossible utopia. Individual chapters are included on the Patriot Act (I was persuaded that it is a GOOD thing); the democratic flip-flop on Iraq once GW Bush im plemented what they agreed with Clinton needed to be done; the driving c omponents of the current anti-war movement; as well as chapters on indiv idual personalities who are major spokespeople of the Left. Horowitz cov ers a lot of ground, and he covers it concisely and clearly. Unholy Alli ance is richly informative without ever being boring or plodding. This book is so illuminating that I simply cannot do justice to it here. I love people who reason so clearly that they help me get my own reasoni ng clear.
I'm not saying abuses should be tolerated, but the key here is th e word "improvisation." You have an isolated incident of abuse, and then they say this was happening at teh same time as Abu Grahib. No connecti on to any official policy, but they obviously are implying it was all ha ppening as part of "something." The incident they describe happened at the same time as all kinds of bad events in many different locations in Iraq, the Middle East, The World. If they are connected in any way, it is by human nature which is flawed. To get back to your main point, the objectives of the left are mind boggl ingly destructive and suicidal. Those objectives are the opposite of any concern for the mistreatment of human beings. If publicizing it is not part of the leftist agenda, they are perfectly happy with the slaughter of innocents by the millions. Just listen to John Kerry on Dick Cavett coldly saying that after we aban don our South Vietnamese allies, the "political" murders of those who si ded with us will be no big deal.
View Replies To: Ernest_at_the_Beach DO we know if these reports are accurate. If they are accurate, are we really saying it is OK to beat to death a ma jor in an opponent's army, just to try to get information? Beating someone to death is a lot different than the stuff the dems have been hooting about which didn't really do any harm. I don't support beating to death prisoners of war, or illegal combatants, or even terrorists who were caught with explosives. I'm fine if they are killed while being apprehended, but once they are in our custody I don't support killing them while trying to get informatio n Once in our custody they should only be killed if it is at the end of a process in which they are found worthy of death (such as by a tribuna l or a court). So my question is, do we trust this story, and is this an isolated case o r standard operating procedure (if it is true)?
View Replies To: CharlesWayneCT Given that I believe the story, I also believe the story shows this is on ly an aberration. I'm sure the democrats will rail about the CIA involvme nt in this, and ask for the name of the CIA operatives so they can publi sh them for the world.
View Replies To: CharlesWayneCT I don't support killing EPWs. I do support killing illegal combatants and terrorist bombers. It's perfe ctly permissible under the Geneva Conventions. Give them a drumhead courts martial and then shoot them dead.
View Replies To: CharlesWayneCT This guy was not a junior officer, he was a Major General. Huge differenc e He would have been a wealth of info on Saddam's regime, terrorists co ntacts and who knows what else. If the Wash Al Jazeera is true, I still hope we learned much before he di ed.
View Replies To: CharlesWayneCT What about the treatment of our POWS during the first Gulf War where the merry little sons came down to the prison for his nightly entertainment of beating our pilots with boards? Few words were written about the treatment of OUR guys when held prisoner but I have to endure these types of crappy stories by the anti-American OLD MEDIA?
View Replies To: Ernest_at_the_Beach Thanks for the tip. I was struggling to explain to a Jewish friend the ot her day why the American left reflexively blames Israel and and the US f or all the world's ills. The guy considers himself a liberal, so he's re luctant to admit what many of his fellow travelers have been up to.
View Replies To: Williams Here is a 4 minute video about the REAL Abu Grahib. Instead of reporting on this video, the MSM ran with undies on the head to muddy the buzz on Abu Grahib abuse.
Note: the video listed in the event materials box (above right) covers t he conference proceedings and does not contain the images found in this Pentagon videotape. Downloading Quicktime for Windows ma y help in the viewing of this version.
