\_ Wow! What an innovation! I wonder if the one who wrote the
           marketing text feels embarrassed.
\_ Multiple buttons isn't the innovation: the lack of *buttons*
is the innovation. It's like the clickwheel on the iPod.
also it can be configured as single/multi depending on
              who logs in.
        \_ No wireless version. Poo.
\_ Yeah, and its not l4z3r powered like my 1337 logitech
mouse either. I'm getting a dell!

2/19 I program a lot by sshing to a Linux cluster. So I'm used to using
Xemacs to code. This works fine from a Linux or Windows workstation,
but sometimes I have to use a Mac. On Mac, the meta is usually
bound to option, but that often doesn't work over ssh for some reason.
This makes using emacs a real pain. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Excuse me if that isnt the intuitive interface blahblahblah etc etc. This mouse seems like it could do with a couple of improvements, im not sure how squeezing the mouse is any nicer/easier than the buttons on th e mx700 i have.. I'll stick with my mouse that actually has two separat e buttons instead of having to rewire my brain so that I only have one f inger on the mouse at a time. Why can't they make a mouse that doesn't accpt any input whatsoever. This thing seems like it's got cool tricks, but WTF: lifting the left fin ger to click the right button? Give me a reason to replace the Microsoft mice in front of my Macs! Does he install drivers first and then puts him grap hics card into the PC? Posted Aug 2, 2005, 8:30 PM ET by Shemploo I like it, I just wish PC people would come up with these cool ideas like the scrollie ball before the Apple people do... Secondly , some people will like the new "Mighty Mouse" and some people will not. I am perfectly happy with the one button, so I won't be getting this. I'm reading the complaints about having to lift your left finger when right -clicking; whenever I right click, my left finger naturally lifts up so that wouldn't be a problem for me. Posted Aug 2, 2005, 9:11 PM ET by xerox I guess they didn't come out wth a cordless version is because they want to "test drive" the mouse and see the popular reaction before moving fur ther along with it. I guess this is sorta like the "beta" version of the mouse. Posted Aug 2, 2005, 9:25 PM ET by NICK Here is a raw review that isn't from a Fanboy or people who bought the thing... Posted Aug 2, 2005, 9:37 PM ET by NICK Here is a raw review that isn't from a Fanboy or people who bought the thing... You just have to go to the APPLE Store to check it out.. Posted Aug 2, 2005, 9:51 PM ET by autoy I agree, way overpriced... Hell, somebody ex plain to me why do they have to emulate mechanical movements with sound when you can have actual mechanical movements with ANY other mouse. It's just too much hassle (that keeps the price up) for something we're a lready doing. Kim Laughton Apple's future plans are rumored to involve re-inventing the wheel. They will be making it square, but a complex suspension and noise suppression system will help alleviate the bumps and crunching noises. The "Mega Wh eel" is said to be about double the price of conventional round wheels. Posted Aug 2, 2005, 10:42 PM ET by Seth Pffff, at least make a wireless one. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse , I can't stand the mess of cables on my desk at work. Oh that's right, Apple will release that as a second generation Mighty Mo use once all the Mac peeps buy this one. Posted Aug 2, 2005, 10:52 PM ET by G57 I see a lot of complaining about the functionality of the mouse simply be cuase it's not engineered in a traditional style. Had Apple done that, a ll the posts on here would have been about people complaining that it's just like every other mouse out there. As for the primary two buttons, b ecause this is a four button mouse, not two, the mouse pivots on the ver tical plain slightly to the left or to the right. This allows for a left or right click even though you can visually see two separate buttons. A pple did not provide that functionality out of the box because most mac users are used to the one button mouse. They simply programmed the two f ront buttons to be the "left" click. With the CD that comes with the mou se, it's easy to set the buttons up to do what you want them to do and i t's easy to use. Odds are, the people posting on this thread are comment ing on something they've not yet used. The fifty buck s I spent on it didn't mean anything to me. Posted Aug 2, 2005, 11:39 PM ET by Cyberwhore If Microsoft had of designed or built it they would have a button dedicat ed to Ctrl+Alt+Del and would have called it "Danger Mouse". Posted Aug 3, 2005, 12:51 AM ET by Roboman Rant: Noto (#20) wrote: "another over-priced piece of crap from apple... but i'm sure all you des igners and other "artsy" fem-men will be rushing to the cute white apple store to snatch it up because it's a $15 device that apple charges $50 for... Guys, I'm telling you , if you buy this mouse, you will be a Fem-Man Better watch out. I second Pancake (#20) - Apple haters are even more annoying than the "Ap ple fanboys" they vow to ridicule. If you think Apple sucks, than just s hut the hell up and don't buy their crap. You don't need to use every Ap ple news story to broadcast how you think every Mac user is a fem-man de signer. Will some users be honestly satisfied with the Mighty Mouse? Just like every othe r product on the face of the planet, the Mighty Mouse is not for everybo dy, so let people use the freakin' mouse and form their own conclusions. Posted Aug 3, 2005, 1:22 AM ET by Nick #12 (Spyvie) said "Mac people won't/can't get their hands dirty installin g a card" A BS sweeping generalization. I've installed, replaced, or upgraded all sorts of things in my Macs over the years: optical drives, hard drives, RAM, floppy drives, NuBus adapt ers, FPU chips, mobo batteries, video cards, audio and video I/O PCI boa rds, a GPIB board, internal modems, a PowerBook screen, iBook video inve rter, and even a few motherboards. And no, I'm not and never have been a Mac repair technician. I always laugh at the ignorance of PC fanboys who say the Mac is not upgr adable. Posted Aug 3, 2005, 2:05 AM ET by Bob It seems that many of you lack any proper knowledge on Appla and PC histo ry. Apple invents product-Microsoft steals product-Apple makes product b etter (perhps more intuitive). XEROX-PARC and Apple invented the mouse t hat Bill stole, so if it tooke them 21 years to build a better one than any of the other companies and you are pissed that it might not suit eve ry computing need you may have or brush your teeth for you, relax and re member that Apple is the reason you are not entering text prompts for co mputer commands, have a computer in your home, and have the ability to u se a mouse period. As for some of the other comments: Apple perfected both the design and fu nctionality of that crappy Compaq mouse linked to above (for example it has 360 degree scrolling touch sensitive buttons force sensitive buttons and a design that doesnt make you want puke. In addition, there is no n eed to be hostile because one reader acknowledges the fact that Apple co mputers are inherently less easy to upgrade. This i s why Apple supports such a limited offering of hardware additions. If y ou have done major upgrades to you then you are in the minority. Congrat ulations and get back to your exciting life of coding. I reiterate what some of the more enlightened commentors have said: if yo u don't like the mouse shut up and use your amazing $15 dollar mouse to navigate to a new page. You may have trouble believing it but this site is meant to be a forum about the product not general Apple gripes. Shut up unless you have something to say that is pertinent to the topic and n ot general garbage. I would quote specific comments here but you know wh o you ar eif you hate "fanboys," love Windows because it works (but not really), and hate Steve Jobs (Even though ou owe him every second of the sad time you spend on the internet.
