csua.org/u/cr8 -> raedinthemiddle.blogspot.com/2005/07/fortunately-its-nice-governmental-gang.html
Raed in the Middle Caught Between The East and The West Thursday, July 14, 2005 Fortunately, It's a Nice Governmental Gang! Niki and I were the last members of the family to k now the "happy news". My brother called my dad from the Iraqi mokhabarat 's jail to inform us he was alive; he said he was abducted by the mukhab arat men from his university. My dad called my mom and Majed, and they i nformed us then. The feelings of joyfulness in our family now would give anyone the impres sion that my brother has won the lottery! My mom spent the morning plann ing my brother's future, including the arrangements of his wedding party ! If your child or sibling vanishes for two days then calls from the secret service jail in any other place on earth, that would be considered a di saster and a violation of human rights In Iraq, however, its Happy News. Because the other options include: To be tortured, executed, and thrown i n garbage by SCIRI and their Badr brigades. To be held by the Iraqi poli ce and left to choke to death in one of their cars. To be held by the US troops then disappear and be mistreated for months in one of their many prisons. To be kidnapped by one of the countless criminal gangs and cos t your family some tens of millions of Iraqi Dinars and/or your life. So now you can see why being held at the mukhabarat jail is such happy ne ws! My dad said that Khalid mentioned something about his writings or his blo g Were not sure whether our blogs are the reason behind the abduction of my brother, but its one of the possible scenarios. In case if they w ere, well stand for our political values of anti-violence, anti-occupat ion, pro-dialogue, pro-free speech, and all of the other honourable stan ds that my family has taken in our lifetime. Our goal now is to ask the mokhabarat to take my brother to court and rev eal what exactly he is being charged with (if anything). Hey Raed, umm this is the best bad news I could hope to hear.... Though I am not of a particular religion I will be praying and dreaming for your brother tonight.... I speak to him usually a couple of times a week and read his blog.... I hope your blogs or his interview with the BBC was the reason, and that they let him off for it. let the world know ASAP what happens to him, use your blogs & e-mail me, I will make sure the media here knows what has happend if you so wish.... I worried that this could happen someday to someone i knew... Dear God, Raed, I hope everything turns out OK for Khalid. Thinking of you - tell us what happens, and/or if we can help. We could send him picture postcards in jail - that is something that Amnesty International gets people to do - it gives the (good) impression that the detainee has a lot of friends. Blaming soldiers giving out candy to children and being blamed for their murder with claims of their being used as "human shields" strikes me as anything but honorable. Please publish the adress and phone number of this jail. They arrested the wrong guy, they should arrest the violent guys, usualy they are easy to recognize by their uniforms and the stars and stripes. I dont get what's so hard to stick together in the middle east and isolate the usa, boycot, embargo, complete ignoring them, drying out their pipelines not serving them tea not renting them houses,not accepting their dirty dollars as currency anymore, just treating them as non exsistent, actually it's so easy ..... The middle east needs a great leader with great and bold visions, with a towards europe and asia aproach and a non violent aproach in the fight against the wannabefourthreich. The blogs and lots as possibly publicity is his best protection against abuse. Rachael, my wayward sister, I cannot express fully my joy in finding you again. I am shocked, but not surprised, however, to discover that you have sunk to the very nadir of sin and depravity. Posting comments in this cesspool of hatred (for any reason other than to call those who congregate here to the light) is certain proof that you are damned and that your immortal soul is destined for the lowest circles of Hell. Even one such as yourself, dear Rachael, who has sunk to the very depths of degredation, can yet be saved by abjuring your sinful ways, accepting Christ into your heart, and performing penance for your sins. For the love of the one, true triune God, Rachael, I beg you to repent before it is too late. The old mokhabarat would throw you in jail for saying something bad about Saddam. The new mokhabarat throws you in jail for saying something good about saddam. My only opinion is that I hope the constitution includes a bill of rights and clearly states that they may not be violated in the name of religion. Moron 99- You are right, the old and new mukhaberat are two sides of the same coin. But if you are implying that Khalid said something "good about saddam", then you are way off the mark. I agree that it is an outrage to have innocent people dragged off to secret jails without explanations or justifications... however, I think it is wrong to blame the situation completely on the American occupation... lest we forget the same sort of thing happened under Saddam.. Thousands were hauled off to be tortured and murdered under his regime. Lets not pretend the Americans are so evil and the old Iraqi leaders were so great... I mean really, what on earth would they want with him anyway? If they are arresting Khalid as a suspect, it really shows that they have NO CLUE of what they are doing. Intimidation is the only modus operandi these sad fucks know of. Second of all, don't you war supporters always say that the US came to make sure that the Saddam days never come back? Well what do you say when the same abuses--and lots of death and mayhem on top of it--have been the product of this so-called liberation. anon 16:10, More accurately - the old mokhabarat would throw you in jail for having ideas oppossed to the totalitarian regime and the new one will throw you in jail for favoring its return. Saddam was just a symbol used to simplify the communications without significantly changing the idea. But if the insurgency continues to push towards civil war, I do not think it unreasonable to think they they will be. If so, the important question is whether or not they disband after the war is won. The advantages of the new government have grown to the point that victory is no longer in doubt. What is in doubt is whether or not they achieve it without adopting the brutalities of their enemy and once they secure victory will there be constitutional protection for the losers. "Obviously, the new mokhabarat is not as bad as the old"--moron 99 Obviously? Have you heard what goes on in the jails of the new Mukhaberat, that is if people are lucky enough to make it there before being slaughtered and thrown in the river? How many more Abu Ghreib type photos and testimonies from people in the new Iraqi jails do you need to know that something is terribly wrong? So the insurgency justifies throwing people in dirty rotten jails without charge for long periods of time? Sounds like Saddam and his justifications for throwing people in prison during the Iran-Iraq war and the ensuing conflicts. Does no one but me think this all has something to do with the contents of the hard drives that were removed from the house in Baghdad? Maybe it's time you guys come clean and just tell us what they might have found on them, or maybe they just want the password. Ther simple fact that Raed's family was able to ask and that K was allowed to call his family show that it isn't as bad - yet. Maybe K's hard drives included names, addresses, times, and/or dates. Perhaps in word, but only if they get to control the ballots. Reading Khalid's posts in May, one has to wonder exactly what "brave resistance" is he talking about. Maybe after some interesting hard drive showed up, curious people wanted to know more. After the surprise of bombers in Leeds, why not wait until the full picture becomes clear before concluding. I also think Raed should just turn himself in and take Khalid's place. Isn't it funny how the Jarrars' greatest fear was that Khalid had been...
