7/13 Those of you who are interested in the Gaza Strip/Israeli conflict,
here is an excellent site that shows you detailed information:
        http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/gazastrip.html
        http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/middle_east_and_asia/gaza_strip_1999.jpg
FYI I got interested after the CNN article that says Israel is
closing Gaza Strip to 8000 resident, also home to 1.3 million
Palestinians. Before this I had no idea where and how big Gaza
Strip was and what the 6 Day War entailed. I can't believe how
much conflict can exist in a country that is [officially] barely 10
miles wide, and 40 miles wide if you count West Bank.
\_ Try reading the Old Testament Bible sometime.
\_ The northern and the southern parts are much wider than 10 miles.

\_ Remember what the French ambassador to England said: "this
international crisis causes by that shitty little country
Israel" -- it is amazing how a country so small with so few
people can cause so many problems. I guess we have all the
major world religions to thank for that, parking so many
holy sites on top of one another there ...
\_ "caused by that shitty little country, indeed." Ivory Coast,
Rwanda/Burundi, WWII (yes), Vietnam, and I guess he's not heard
of the Sykes-Picot agreement or the Suez crisis. The phrase
"you French twit" comes to mind. -John

12/4 Just saw a normal dating ad, except, it's JDATE. The people on the
commercial don't even look Jew. Are they opening up the doors?
        \_ is she hot?
\_ I dated a blonde Jewish girl from Wisconsin. She didn't look
           Jewish either.

9/18 Why are so many ACCOUNTANTS Jewish? Not a troll, just curious.
        Gil. Goldberg. Levy. etc...
\_ Perhaps b/c historically Jews (unlike Christians) were allowed
to charge interest on loans (usury).
\_ ok, fine. What about lawyers? I don't get that one.

6/6 It is impossible not to be reminded of the classic Jewish joke
about the Jewish mother in Russia taking leave of her son, who
has been called up to serve the Czar in the war against Turkey.
"Don't overexert yourself'" she implores him, "Kill a Turk and
rest. Kill another Turk and rest again…"
"But mother," the son interrupts, "What if the Turk kills me?"

2/20 Ok serious question, NOT political. This is straight up procedural.
Has it been declared that we didn't find WMD in iraq? (think so).
So why did we go into iraq (what was the gain), and if nobody really
knows, why is nobody looking for the reason?
\_ Political stability, military strategy (Iran), and to prevent
           Saddam from financing terrorism.

10/9 Will Glen Beck's head explode?
\_ Oh, I'm sure he'll rant and rave. What else is new?
Of course, giving Obama the peace prize is dumb, but it's a step
up from Al Gore. At least a dozen steps up from Arafat.
           \_ Kissinger beats them all.
\_ Kissinger stunk, but worse than Arafat? I dunno. That's close.

Peter as the brother of Adolf, the constant guy-to-guy
kissing and gay references... the list goes on and

9/14 Does anyone have the controversial book Bell Curve? I know
it has the political incorrect [and perhaps flawed] data that
shows certain race have higher IQ than other race and I'm
wondering how smart Russians are relative to white Americans
and East Orientals. I can't seem to Google for this information.

Field Listing Following World War II, the British withdrew from their mandate of Palest ine, and the UN partitioned the area into Arab and Jewish states, an arr angement rejected by the Arabs. Subsequently, the Israelis defeated the Arabs in a series of wars without ending the deep tensions between the t wo sides. The territories occupied by Israel since the 1967 war are not included in the Israel country profile, unless otherwise noted. On 25 Ap ril 1982, Israel withdrew from the Sinai pursuant to the 1979 Israel-Egy pt Peace Treaty. Israel and Palestinian officials signed on 13 September 1993 a Declaration of Principles (also known as the "Oslo accords") gui ding an interim period of Palestinian self-rule. Outstanding territorial and other disputes with Jordan were resolved in the 26 October 1994 Isr ael-Jordan Treaty of Peace. In addition, on 25 May 2000, Israel withdrew unilaterally from southern Lebanon, which it had occupied since 1982. I n keeping with the framework established at the Madrid Conference in Oct ober 1991, bilateral negotiations were conducted between Israel and Pale stinian representatives and Syria to achieve a permanent settlement. On 24 June 2002, US President BUSH laid out a "road map" for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which envisions a two-state solution. Howe ver, progress toward a permanent status agreement has been undermined by Palestinian-Israeli violence ongoing since September 2000. The conflict may have reached a turning point with the election in January 2005 of M ahmud ABBAS as the new Palestinian leader following the November 2004 de ath of Yasir ARAFAT. It depends on imports of crude oil, grains, raw m aterials, and military equipment. Despite limited natural resources, Isr ael has intensively developed its agricultural and industrial sectors ov er the past 20 years. Israel imports substantial quantities of grain, bu t is largely self-sufficient in other agricultural products. Cut diamond s, high-technology equipment, and agricultural products (fruits and vege tables) are the leading exports. Israel usually posts sizable current ac count deficits, which are covered by large transfer payments from abroad and by foreign loans. Roughly half of the government's external debt is owed to the US, which is its major source of economic and military aid. difficulties in the high-techn ology, construction, and tourist sectors; and fiscal austerity in the fa ce of growing inflation led to small declines in GDP in 2001 and 2002. T he economy grew at 1% in 2003, with improvements in tourism and foreign direct investment. In 2004, rising business and consumer confidence - as well as higher demand for Israeli exports boosted GDP by 39%. Field Listing general assessment: most highly developed system in the Middle East altho ugh not the largest domestic: good system of coaxial cable and microwave radio relay; all sys tems are digital international: country code - 972; Field Listing West Bank and Gaza Strip are Israeli-occupied with current status subject to the Israeli-Palestinian Interim Agreement - permanent status to be d etermined through further negotiation; Israel continues construction of a "seam line" separation barrier along parts of the Green Line and withi n the West Bank; Israel announced its intention to pull out Israeli sett lers and withdraw from the Gaza Strip and four settlements in the northe rn West Bank in 2005; Golan Heights is Israeli-occupied (Lebanon claims the Shab'a Farms area of Golan Heights);
