2009/3/27-4/2 [Computer/SW/Security, Computer/SW/OS/FreeBSD] UID:52764 Activity:nil | 3/27 i just want to set up a proxy. squid is too annoying. privoxy
locks too much content down. any tips ?
\_ Use ssh's built-in SOCKS server. On the client, run "ssh -D1080
proxyhost", and then set your browser to use localhost:1080 as a
SOCKS proxy.
\_ best advice. Fuck squid. SSH has everything.

2005/7/18 [Computer/SW/Security] UID:38675 Activity:nil | 7/18 I'm trying to infiltrate into the freeper site but apparently they
already blocked off an entire class D network, both at school and at
home. Does anyone have a similar problem? Can I get an anonymizer
to work? Anyone recommend a good and FREE anonymizer? Sameer's
<DEAD>anonymizer.com<DEAD> stops working after clicking a few times.
\_ Don't you have anything better to do?

2005/6/28-29 [Computer/SW/Security] UID:38337 Activity:nil | 6/28 Sorry for going back in time here, but where I am, it's still Tuesday
the 28th of June ... anyways, I had a couple of posts about how much
people trust http://www.anonymizer.com if people had experience with how
much anonymizer can protect your information, especially if they are
subpoenaed to turn over evidence. Please leave this post up a couple
of days, cuz I don't get to check the MOTD that many times a day.

2005/5/11 [Computer/SW/Security, Academia/Berkeley/CSUA/Motd] UID:37630 Activity:high | 5/11 I know kchang's de-anonymizer is putting a crimp in your style, but
can you people who scp to /etc/motd.public please stop overwriting?
\_ A little thought should help you realize that's impossible.
\_ A little quality thought should help you realize that:
"Overwriting" is being used in the context of "screwing up
other people's changes".

2004/6/7 [Computer/SW/Security] UID:30642 Activity:nil | 6/5 I can't reach some sites from my company, including sameer's
anonymizer. What are some good anonymizing sites I can use? Thanks.
\_ I recommend setting up nph-proxy or something similar on your
home machine. For added yuks, run it over OpenSSL and password
protect it. -John

2004/1/22 [Academia/Berkeley/CSUA/Motd, Computer/SW/Unix] UID:11881 Activity:moderate | 1/21 Motdedit with Merge! (beta version)
/tmp/motdedit -m
or just /tmp/me
\_ it's not the /csua/bin/ version yet. Try it here, first.
\_ /tmp/me doesn't work because /csua/bin comes before /tmp in my
path.

2003/2/13-14 [Computer/SW/Security] UID:27400 Activity:low | 2/13 Looking for <DEAD>anonymizer.com<DEAD> like websites that are free. Thanks.
\_ like water for chocolate.
\_ get a colo somewhere and run squid on it. set up the acls
so you and your friends can access it by others can't. Enable
https to http proxying and you've got all of the features
of anonymizer for next to nothing.

2002/10/20-22 [Computer/SW/RevisionControl] UID:26262 Activity:high | 10/19 Why bother with locking up motd? Just use CVS. Automatic merge.
It is so simply.
\_ I don't believe. So simpo.
\_ you have wodie style, beyond compare.
\_ "I wish today was Wednesday..." -bz
\_ Because CVS doesn't do automatic spelling or grammar check. ;-)
