6/16 Red Cross joins AI:
        http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1292692/posts
\_ What are they talking about? The report last year?
           God, freepers are unintelligible
\_ I think he is saying that the Red Cross has joined
Amnesty International in stating that the prison
conditions for terror suspects is less than humane.
\_ And is there some new story? Or is this moaning about
                 the report from last year?
\_ I think it is just moaning. The best thing to do
is to ignore the weirdos (on both sides) and hope
they will get bored and go away.

1/4 Why the fascination with blowing up airplanes? Airports have tight
security. It doesn't seem worth it. It's far easier to derail a
train or set off explosives in a crowded place like a theater or
sporting event. As many or more people will be killed and it will
still make the news. I don't get why all of our security, and
apprently much of the terrorist's resources, is focused on airplanes.

Rakkasan1 Once upon a time, the International Committee of the Red Cross was a huma nitarian outfit doing the Lord's work to reduce the horrors of war. So i t is a special tragedy to see that it has increasingly become an ideolog ical organization unable to distinguish between good guys and bad. That's the unfortunate conclusion suggested by three years of open ICRC h ostility toward US conduct in the war on terror. The latest salvo was Tuesday's front page story in the New York Times quoting from an ICRC re port complaining about the detention conditions and interrogation practi ces used on Taliban and al Qaeda prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. For decades, the very core of Red Cross methodology has been strict confi dentiality agreements with cooperating governments. But it has helped the Red Cross get access to--and help- -prisoners of genuinely repressive regimes like Nazi Germany and Saddam Hussein's Iraq and ensured that the organization's recommendations are n ot regarded as political in any partisan sense. But now the ICRC has thrown confidentiality aside to attack the US, of all countries. And it matters little that the original leaker in this ca se might have been in the US government. Officials at ICRC headquarter s were only too happy to confirm the document's authenticity, and they q uickly issued a statement complaining that "significant problems regardi ng conditions and treatment at Guantanamo Bay have not yet been adequate ly addressed." US "In this latest case, the ICRC is alleging that the psychological conditi ons faced by Guantanamo detainees are "tantamount to torture." Beca use--we kid you not--prisoners are being held for indefinite periods, an d the uncertainty is stressful. And because some prisoners are subjected to psychological pressure techniques during interrogations aimed at thw arting further terrorist attacks." I quit donating to the Red Cross when they could only criticize Am erica, never our opponents. I cannot recall a single instance of the Red Cross condemning beheadings, suicide bombings, the slaughter of innocents, torture by Isl amofascists, etc. Also, the ICRC is NOT the same organization as the AMERICAN RED CROSS that we tend to think of as working for the betterment of mankind around the w orld. The ICRC is closely aligned with the RED CRESCENT (near east) fact ion of the organization. In fact, it is the NEW Leadership of those two organizations that are now calling the shots. The 28th Conference held in Geneva during Dec 2-6, 2003 proclaimed "Protecting Human Dignity" as the main theme and elected the officers, ad opting an " for the term 200. The new officers of the Standing Commission remain until 2007. View Replies To: Juan Medn I will never donate to the Red Cross again. How can you donate to the International Committee of the Red Cross? This organization is not connected to th e American Red Cross (who do good deeds here in the United States includ ing helping American Servicemen get home in an emergency) which is whom you probably donated to. They are NOT the same organization and any mone y donated to the ARC does NOT go to the ICRC. View Replies To: Rakkasan1 I hate to have to repeat this .... Antonio Gramsci, 1891-1937 (( This is his outline of how to DESTROY what we call "the West". Infiltrators must act so as to discredit the church ............ See that this is given a high profile in the news ............ Marxists "must enter into every civil, cultural, and political acti vity in every nation, leavening them as yeast leavens bread." View Replies To: Brad Cloven I quit donating to the Red Cross when they could only criticize America The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) does not solicit dona tions that I am aware of. It is not the same organization as the America n Red Cross (ARC). The ARC is the organization that assists Americans in crisis and collects blood for hospitals. View Replies To: Gefreiter And I have a reason never to donate. The International Committee of the Red Cross is not the same organization as the American Red Cross. They assist servicemen in an emergency to get home if a family member is ill . They had been getting their army induced donations every month for years from me. As tough as it was on young married soldiers I never heard of any assistance from the Red Cross. In fact I've never hea rd of any help from the Red Cross except lighten the load on the 9-11 vi ctims stealing hundreds of millions $'s donated to them. The red cross i s all tied together and the administrators get the abscond with more mon ey then all their. They do notify service men of menial information the military would do an their own Its only for the donations. As for their blood program it just another big dollar business for them. View Replies To: sandviper Yes, I've heard rumbling about the American Red Cross, too. Like that the y charged soldiers for blankets in Korea (when the Salvation Army didn't ). And remember all the gallons of blood that had to be thrown out after September 11 because they collected more than they could store? View Replies To: FreedomCalls You may be pretending to have forgotten what happened with the Red Cross after 911. Forcing the chief executive to resign just didn't to it for me. If you have complaints about the ARC then start another thread on i t This one is about the ICRC -- a completely DIFFERENT organization. As far as your complaints that the ARC didn't give you any money to get h ome from Vietnam, I don't believe that is in their charter. Their only j ob was to notify you that there was a problem at home and to help author ize emergency leave. View Replies To: FreedomCalls The International Committee of the Red Cross is not the same organization as the American Red Cross. That would be the same Red Cross that STOLE 500 million dollars of donati ons for the 9/11 victims and redirected it to their general fund? View Replies To: Centurion2000 That would be the same Red Cross that STOLE 500 million dollars of donati ons for the 9/11 victims and redirected it to their general fund? To hel l with the Red "Double" Cross So what does that have to do with the ICRC? View Replies To: FreedomCalls This one is about the ICRC -- a completely DIFFERENT organization. there's a closer relationship than that: The members of the International Red Cross Movement including the Intern ational Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (Federation), and national societies lik e the American Red Cross or Mexican Red Cross, work together toward com mon goals during times of crisis or disaster. View Replies To: prion Yeah, the American National Red Cross is about as much of a 'partner' to the ICRC as is the US a 'partner' to the UN because it belongs to th e organization. The American National Red Cross (chartered by Congress) holds true to the origins of the Red Cross. The ANRC is still trying to get the Israeli 'Mogan David' organ ization admitted to the ICRC, but cannot due to the objections of the Eu ropean state representatives to the ICRC, along with the Red Crescent or ganizational members. The American National Red Cross may have its problems, but don't tar them with the ICRC outrages... View Replies To: dvwjr Yeah, the American National Red Cross is about as much of a 'partner' to the ICRC as is the US a 'partner' to the UN because it belongs to th e organization. Which is one of the reasons people agitate so strongly for the US to distance itself from the UN. Our support and participation mak es us very much culpable for the crimes of the UN. "They're better than those other guys they work with" isn't much of an ar gument.
