rbushway On Mar 23 2005 by Poonam Khanna - Though handwriting recognition software has made impro vements, it still has a long way to go before users can sit back and wri te without the need to constantly copy edit I'm not overly fond of sitting up at a desk and writing on a keyboard. Gi ven the choice, I'd rather do all my work sitting back in a big comfy lo unge chair or on my sofa with my feet up. I miss those days when I could sit back with pen and paper in hand and do my work (back then, homework ). That's why the idea of the tablet PC is so appealing to me. It's a chance to get back to the good old days of pen and paper and, more importantly , a chance to trade in my desk for my sofa. The reality means that I can't just write away without giving a thought to anything else. It me ans as I write I had better do a whole lot of editing or risk looking ba ck at my notes and wondering what it was I was trying to say. It's the handwriting recognition software that's the killer app on the ta blet PC, but the technology is still far from perfect.
I hear this thing only weighs some 300 pounds, and it is powered by a m ini nuclear reactor. In addition, there are reports that this thing can cook one mean hamburg er.

Due to some issues we have ha d recently with various topics, we decided it was time to make an update to the forum guidelines. These guidelines were worked on by all the Buz z team, and we all came into agreement on them before posting. These gui delines will give you an idea of what is and isn't permitted in the foru ms, and it will give us a standard to go by if there are disagreements i n the future. Also, we've made a change in that all Buzz team members have access to mo derating posts and locking users. The Buzz team now consists of Dennis Rice (TabPCMan), R ob Bushway (rbushway), WNewquay, and myself.
This w ill help us work together to figure out the best course of action for ea ch issue. Hopefully these changes will help the quality of the forum at the highest in can be, and help keep the community strong as we continue to grow! O n a related note, the site growth continues to be amazing. We are over 1 3,000 members now, and serving up over 13 million pages views a month. With this comes some heavy stress on the server, so if you have site acc ess problems, don't give up! The site rarely goes down, but it will slow considerably during peak hours. I'm working on a solution to this, but in the meantime, thanks for your patience and thanks for visiting!
I'm pleased to announce the opening of ano ther support forum here on TabletPCBuzz. This forum is open for support for software from xThink. If you are a user of their MathJournal or xThi nk Calculator software, this forum is for you!
"GM is using the NY Auto Show to debut t o the public two Cadillac Master Coachbuilder built limos, the DTS with a 70-inch wheelbase extension and the Escalade ESVe (e stands for execut ive) with a 40-inch wheelbase extension. the DTS has a 22-inch LCD TV in the partition, AM/FM/CD/XM, DVD player, wireless headphones and a tablet PC." not sure this really has anything to do with anything, so I stuck it in the off-topic category. Not sure why a Tablet PC in a limo would b e special, unless they used it to control onboard systems or something. Tablet PCs are made to be mobile, and I can take them in a car anytime I want (limo or no). As a side note, TabletPCBuzz was thinki ng of buying one of these to attend technology events in style. However, that idea was quickly shot down with one glance at the price tag. Guess I'll stick to using the Tablet PC on public transit for now.

"Greg Hindahl, MD, has been an advocate of using the Tablet PCs while t reating patients at the practice, Neeley says. Before Hindahl goes into an exam room, he spends 45 seconds reviewing information for his next pa tient on a Tablet PC. As a result, when he sees the patient, he knows th eir complete history without looking it up in front of them, Neeley says ." This type of application can only help get me out o f the Dr's office sooner!
WhatIsNew Reports - "Yesterday I listened to senior projects presentations at the University of Washington. These computer science students were to create a Tablet P C application during the quarter.
