2/10 For the guy who wanted 2 finger scrolling on an iBook:
(I don't know why you want this, but here your are)
\_ Heya, Thanks! I thought the 2-finger feature was in the
hardware, so now I have more questions... but thanks.

9/19 "No, A Severed Finger Will Not Be Able to Access a Stolen iPhone 5S"
I'm sure the Apple QA department has tested extensively that a severed
finger will not be able to access a stolen iPhone 5S.
\_ It doesn't matter whether or not a severed finger can be used. It
matters whether or not a robber thinks that a severed finger can be

10/24 What's an easy way to see if say column 3 of a file matches a list of
expressions in a file? Basically I want to combine "grep -f <file>"
       to store the patterns and awk's $3 ~ /(AAA|BBB|CCC)/ ... I realize
I can do this with "egrep -f " and use regexp instead of strings, but
was wondering if there was some magic way to do this.
\_ UNIX has no magic. Make a shell script to produce the ask or egrep

3/12 I am curious what others think of tablets like iPad. They don't seem
useful to me, but I use my computer for more than web browsing,
Facebook, and Twitter. Why would I buy one instead of a laptop?
They seem like a disabled laptop to me, but at a higher price.
\_ You are most likely a coder. iPad is not for coders. They are
what you get your non-technical friends. Or musicians. Look at

8/1 Where is the mac desktop going to go? It seems all the development
in sw/hw now is for the iphone, imac. 2 finger Gestures won't work
on the desktop. What happened to the xserve line?
\_ Two finger gestures DO work on the desktop. Have you used a new
Apple laptop lately...they support up to 5 finger gestures.
\_ you're making my point even harder, do the 5 finger gestures

5/6 When I finger my account, it says:
New mail received Wed May 6 07:13 2009 (PDT)
Unread since Mon May 4 08:43 2009 (PDT)
Acutally I haven't accessed my mail for several months, why does
        finger say unread since 5/4?

12/1 Just curious -- what do you guys generally use soda for? Why do you
log on? Personally, I use it to keep a presence on IRC and AIM/gTalk
at all times, and mess around with some Python programming (been
setting up Twisted and such so I can play with making an irc bot).
\_ I use it to post SHIT, er, I mean, spill my guts about the company

To check if your trackpad can support two-finger scrolling, use the follo wing command: ioreg -l | grep "W Enhanced Trackpad" If this prints out a line containing "W Enhanced Trackpad" = 1 on the rig ht, your trackpad is "W-Enhanced" (and can thus be used for two-finger s crolling); Please note that this check will not work if you have SideTrack installed . SideTrack loads its own mouse driver, which doesn't publish the "W Enh anced" property. zip (binary, only rotational scrolling, 68k) OK, so how do I install this driver thing? kexts in above procedure), or until the next system restart occurs. WARNING: In case the driver should for any reason fail to load, do not to uch the trackpad before you have reloaded the original driver or your ma chine will crash! If you prefer to just install one of the precompiled binaries, just unzip the downloaded archive, open a Terminal, go to the directory you just u nzipped to and use the same commands given above. Before you do this, however, it is important that you chang e the permissions appropriately. I'm planning to create a proper installer and loader in the (hopefully) n ot too distant future. Scrolling seems to be a little jumpy sometimes, what's up with that? This usually happens when the driver mixes up X/Y and rotational scrollin g Enabling just one of the two at a time should help. Also, several people suggested they get better results if they turn "Use smooth scrolling" off under "Appearance" in System Preferences. Comments & feedback Let me know if you encounter any bugs or have any suggestions (other than "add some documentation", "create an installer" or "this needs a pref p ane" - working on those).
