1/24 So, ilyas, what is the libertarian solution to problems like this? http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/11/09/sms_spam_trojan \_ motd troll tax. -- ilyas \_ So, in other words, you don't have a solution, right? \_ I am no longer interested in having serious discussions on the motd. If you really want to learn about libertarianism take a poly sci. class, read some books, even email me. Don't troll the motd though. -- ilyas \_ I'll answer for him: the solution is a little chat session with a baseball bat, without such piddly-squat legal obstructions as aggravated assault laws. -John \_ Libertarianism: detente thuggery. \_ I've maintained for years that the only effective deterrent for spam is a guy named Guido with a baseball bat. |

www.theregister.co.uk/2004/11/09/sms_spam_trojan -> www.theregister.co.uk/2004/11/09/sms_spam_trojan/ Delf-HA Trojan horse sends spam SMS message s by using the free "Send a text message" facility found on the websites of several Russian mobile network operators. Infected PCs download inst ructions on the content of junk SMS messages from a separate website. Only a small number of instances of the Trojan horse have been sighted so far, and the junk message it generates are confined to Russia. SMS mess ages are sent to numbers with the +7921 prefix (followed by six randomly generated digits) and to +7911 (followed by six randomly generated digi ts). The attack is significant only in illustrating the twisted ingenuit y of spamming scumbags. "We're getting used to the idea of infected PCs being used to send email spam but this is taking the idea one step forward creating a botnet for spamming mobiles", said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at anti-virus firm Sophos. |
