org Orlando, FL - Hurricane Jeanne lashed Florida on Saturday, but the fourth major storm of the season didn't keep the American Muslim Alliance from holding its ninth national convention - or Libertarian presidential candidate Michael Badnarik from addressing that convention. Badnarik accepted the AMA's Al-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz Malcolm X Award "on behalf of the Libertarian, Green and Independent parties." Former president Jimmy Carter recently issued a gutsy call on the US government to pull out of Iraq as soon as possible. While a distinct minority in Congress has voiced this sentiment, it's refreshing to hear an ex-president say what almost no one else in the political mainstream dares say. Even many in the "antiwar" movement, to say nothing of the leadership of his party, don't see Carter's call for withdrawal as a reasonable option. Not only is it reasonable, it's the only sensible course of action for the US government to take. Most Americans now realize that the Iraq War is a tragic mistake that has failed to make us any safer.
PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES BADNARIK & COBB TO DEBATE IN MIAMI September 27 -- MIAMI--Michael Badnarik and David Cobb, the presidential candidates from the Libertarian and Green parties, will take questions from media, students and the public in an open forum the night of--and just feet from--the first televised "debate" between the two-party candidates. Pacifica Radio will interview audience members and debate participants following the two hour debate. From 9 pm until 10:30, the candidates and audience will watch a live broadcast of the restricted, two-party debate after which Badnarik and Cobb will offer their rebuttals. Independent candidate Ralph Nader, who has been invited to participate in the open format debate, has not yet accepted the invitation.
