9/24 Burkett: Lockhart Asked Me for Rathergate Documents

Gotta loves the Clinton's, their stench just never goes

away. And remember, according to Dan Rather, Burket is
an "unimpeachable source".
\_ This is just the Clintons torpedoing Kerry's campaign so
Hillary can run in 08. Duh.
\_ Please. Gary Trudeau offered $10k for evidence of Bush's service.
If someone sent him allegedly forged documents, would he be at
fault for asking for such evidence?

\_ You know, I never heard about this before the motd. And I
stopped reading Doonesbury a long while ago when Trudeau went
completely loopy IMO. It's quite possible that there aren't any
GWB supporters that could verify the claim reading the strip.
\_ newsmax article quoting forth worth star telegram, which had
subsequently retracted the lockhart claim. there are enough
lies flying back and forth on both sides already. let's not
add to it. link:www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/news/9748929.htm?1c

| www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2004/9/23/233909.shtml During a single phone conversation with Lockhart, Burkett told the Telegram that he suggested a "couple of concepts on what I thought (Kerry) had to do" to beat Bush. In return, he said, Lockhart tried to "convince me as to why I should give them the documents." Lockhart has staunchly denied that he ever discussed the forged documents with Burkett, though he confirmed that a conversation had indeed taken place in a call arranged by "60 Minutes" producer Mary Mapes. But with Burkett now claiming otherwise, Republicans have their first evidence of Rathergate wrongdoing that directly implicates the Kerry campaign. Burkett also complained that "60 Minutes" anchorman Dan Rather tried to set him up as a "fall guy" in the forged document scandal during his mea culpa broadcast on Monday. "That's all that that evening news was - to find a fall guy. "Dan Rather ruined my reputation in front of 70 million people," he added. Burkett's former lawyer said Tuesday that the controversial Guardsman was preparing a lawsuit against CBS. |

Long-suffering readers are within their rights to demand some full explanations. "Ask GBT" form, then forward them to the home office in Manhattan. Selected questions will be personally answered by GB Trudeau or one of his top aides, and immediately posted. As each new Q&A is added, the previous one will be archived, thus slowly building a remarkable primary source for scholars in the years ahead. I see the Texans for Truth are offering $50,000 to anyone who can prove Dubya served in the Alabama Guard. What ever happened to Doonesbury's offer of $10,000 for the same thing? Though it's clearly in the president's interest to have his Guard story confirmed, two presidential campaigns have as yet failed to inspire the appearance of a single definitive corroborator. announced in the strip, inspired an impressive number of entries, but most proved distinctly un-authoritative, albeit surreally entertaining. Nonetheless, first, second and third-place winners were selected and their Doonesbury prizes shipped off, and GBT made good on his $10K contribution to the USO (he saw no reason why the organization should lose out just because a credible witness couldn't be flushed). |
