She was short-haired and wearing a pair of shorts, so I did not know that he was a she. I apologized to her a thousand times but my popularity has plummeted since then." Yuki Akira, 27 "Years ago, I was going out with my boyfriend. We said goodbye a bit before midnight but when we both got to homes, we were on the phone talking about how much we missed each other. When I realized, I was in a cab and spending almost 20,000 yen to go to see him again. Mitsuko Matsuyama, 57 "When I went to see my son's university graduation commencement ceremony in the US last summer, he gave me a couple of boxes to bring back to Japan. The officer asked me what was in those boxes, but there were so many things in those boxes. The customs officer demanded I open them and started checking inside. To my great embarrassment, he found a whole bunch of sensational porn magazines and confiscated them." Noriyuki Yamazaki, 28 "Some time ago, I went to a high school reunion to see my friends. That night, I got really high and could not stop drinking. My friends and I really got bombed and we walked around town all night together. When I woke up in the morning, we were lying in the bushes next to the river, covered with mud and stinky yellow liquid." Nobusuke Yoshioka, 24 "At last year's bonenkai (year-end party), I got really really happy and drunk and passed out. Later on, I got back on my feet and staggered to the train station. I remember taking my jacket off in the cold weather and waving to everyone with it yelling "Sayonara 2002!" Then all my money -- apparently about 70,000 yen -- came out of jacket pocket and flew over Meiji street in Harajuku. The next day, a coworker told me what had happened and that he had picked up all the money. He is such a nice guy to tell me that but I wonder how much I really had in the pocket." Nakaji, 14 "Last year, there was a school field trip to Hakone, which is very famous for a hot spring. So me and a couple of friends went behind the girls' hot spring to peek at them. We waited for an hour in an excited state for our girls to come in, but what we saw was only old ladies. Mokoto Asai, 54 "Actually this is not a crazy thing for me, although I guess many people will consider it crazy. I've been spending millions of yen, with which you can buy several houses, for my son Akihiro Arai's dream. He is an automobile car racer, drives in the Japan GT Championship and is dreaming of moving up to the Indy class. I am acting as his mechanic and trying to achieve his dream with him. Now, I have done some unbelievable things before, which normal people will not do, such as punching a police officer and such, but I do not consider those crazy acts. Jedi Pimp, I can't believe you actually still have the gall to post. You must've sat there for ages, eh, giggling and wriggling and grunting away, as people rightly showed shock and distaste at your story, regardless of whether they believed you or not. If you'd stuck with your ridiculous story, at least you'd have *some* cred with your sad little peers. But no, you panicked 'cos you thought the police would be notified, and 'fessed up, and now you're actually trying to justify your pathetic excuse of a fantasy (a poorly-written piece of work, by the way)? Also, I would love to know what would make you think that I have emabarrassed myself on an anonymous opinion website ... again bury your head back in the hole you popped out of! Himajin: The Pop Vox question was "What was the crazy thing you have ever done? "" I wouldn't call it scared or shallow because I don't break the law, and then brag about it for the world to know. "If you can't see why I confessed then you lack more common sense than I had imagined." Now I can't see, but I think others will agree that it is not ME who lacks common sense, here. It looks like this from where I stand: 1) Jedi claims he had anal sex with someone who wasn't willing to. or Deliverance" that entertained him so much (and made me vomit, by the way), and to avoid the police from finding his sorry (behind) he says the whole thing was made up... Pulp Fiction,in my humble opinion was a piece of overrated crapI watched the first 30 minutes and quit. I have never seen Deliverance ,I've heard aboutit, but never seen it. You cannot compare in any way, shape or form what you wrote, a sick vignette of the rape of a passed-out drunk co-worker because you 'hated him' and no other reason, to something like the Shawshank Redemption. I have known people in my life who watch movies specifically for those scenesI find I have trouble understanding their lack of empathy.

Print A woman died at a Kyoto hospital last weekend after undergoing a liver transplant earlier this year, the first death among more than 2,000 liver donors since the first such transplant was conducted in Japan 1989. Miyuki Eguchi, 30 "I was in a car accident once and lost consciousness for two days. Since then I have been able to see the value of a person's life more seriously and accept a person's death more realistically. Therefore, when I found an organ donor application form at a convenience store where the store manager worked in an organ donor organization, I applied for it. Although that card applies after my death, I am still open to donating my organs when I am alive too. I am scared but I trust today's medical technology, so I would do it. However, I would never try to save a dictator like George Bush and Saddam Hussein." I do not know if donating an organ is a good thing or not. I wonder if it is OK for science to lengthen a person's life span, if only the economically fortunate people can benefit." Did anyone you interviewed say they would like to donate their organs? Only if a member of my family needed an organ would I allow them to take it, but no one else, even if I'm dead. If I'm dead, just please forget about surviving using my organ. Even if I am in need of an organ transplant, I cannot imagine having somebody else's organ functioning in my body. Takashi Tsuruta, 30 "I'd do it, not only for my family and close friends, but also for anyone who really needed an organ to extend his or her life, especially if I was the only matching donor. As a doctor, I know how good today's medical technology is. Also, I believe everyone has the right to live equally and I can respect donors very much. Once I am dead, I do not care how my body will be used but I am not sure if my family will agree to providing my body for organ transplants." If a member of my family needed an organ transplant and I know the doctor is reliable, I would like to donate but not while I am alive. I cannot imagine donating one of my organs to somebody else because no one around me has that kind of problem. I wouldn't mind if my organs are donated after my death, although I don't know how my family would feel. The idea of my body being dissected to pieces at some medical institute might upset them, whether it was for study or to save someone's life." Since becoming an organ donor is not that common in Japan and I do not have anyone with such a need around me, I find the idea a bit objectionable, despite that news last week. However, if someone in my family needed a transplant, I think my perception would change." Atsushi Takenouchi, 74 "I am 74 years old, so I don't think I can donate an organ to anyone but if I were still eligible I would allow it only for my family and close friends. After I die, I don't mind what happens to my body at all. I do not believe there is any life after death like some religions. That is why I signed an organ donor card a long time ago at the hospital. After they are done with my body, I've already asked my daughter to cremate what's left and spread the ashes over the ocean." Akiyo Ohashi, 64 "I heard about that mother who died from donating her liver to her daughter. It's so sad that in medical science, we have to see such failures and sacrifices in order for better solutions to be discovered to save more lives. Hearing such news daily, I sometimes doubt today's medical technology. However, after I die, I don't care what they do with my body. I wouldn't mind transplanting my organs to other Japanese and Asians, including Kim Jong Il, even though he's got mentally unbalanced. I think life is equally given to everyone, but I'm a bit inconsistent because I wouldn't like to donate my organs to other races or nationalities." Click here to see all messages by FATguy_43 (May 12 2003 - 13:28) First of all, my mother received a liver transplant, thanks to a 16 year old girl who died in a car accident. Her family didn't need to decide on "pulling the plug" because she was DOA. The thing is, it was my mother's third liver - counting her own, and the one that was put in, but didn't come back to life. It helped her live another year and a half before she had a heart attack caused by diabetes. My cousin was in a car accident and survived for almost 3 years before he went into a coma and left us. Now, my grandparents swore that he was listening to them, blinking twice for yes, once for no, and all that, but I don't know if he was alive or kept "moving" on electricity. His parents wouldn't allow donating his organs, but there really was nothing wrong with them. As for me, I'll donate anything that the doctors can use. Okay, my brain may be useless, and my digestive system overused, but I can donate my eyes, ears, bone marrow, even whole bones and joints or limbs. It may not save someone's life, but it would help some people to live a better one. I will not confine my organs or others to "only family or friends", or "only Japanese", or any single nationality. I really hope that not ALL Japanese are this narrow-minded when it comes to transplants. I would rather look down and see a person or group of people benefiting from my death than just a few crying about it... As you yourself hinted, these were 2 different posts by 2 different people. we all waited 3 days, hoping for some improvement, but bleeding was so severe doctors couldn't remove all of coagulated blood from his brain. toshio's dad decided to donate his organs once it was clear kid was brain dead. a year later NY Daily News flew the father to NYC to meet 3 recipients of donated organs. a black woman got new lungs, a black male got one kidney, a white woman received toshio's intestines and an asian received a liver. nobody cared what race was the donor, nor what color were the recipients. Hiroshi Nakagawa, 61 "I hate to have a boss just like Bush. I hate a dictator and he is no different from Kim Jong Il and Saddam Hussein. There was another way to settle the issue in Iraq but he pushed for war. If he were my boss, I would tell him to go visit the battlefield and lead as a part of his job." GW Bush never did anything succesful in his career before he became Governor of Texas. His financial wealth only came because people used him for his family connections. All the companies he was ever with were mediocre at best. If he were the boss, he would run the firm to the ground. He would have no idea about expanding the product internationally because he has no clue how or desire how to appeal to the international market. If he were the boss, I would quit because there is no way I could work for long for someone who was intellectually inferior to me. Dont care about people who cant think further then thir noses, everybody love his own country and want to protect it and it is exactly what you would like to do, but people like Bush are destroying everything for his own people and the rest of the world. Ask the Iraqis that lived under his reign of terror if they consider Bush evil. Bush to your contrary is an obvious advocate of human rights. It is sad to hear the completely misguided view of what our President represents and what this war is about. Freedom for the US and other nations to live without the fear of Saddam using WMD or funding terrorist attacks as well as the freedom for the people of Iraq. Bush is the greates enemy of the american people and if anyone of you have the guts - vote him to the hell next election. A very nice democracy" melinda Melinda, I've come to the conclusion that you are just a complete idiot. Two, democracy or republic, neither entitles you the right to represent "the American people." " people like Bush are destroying everything for his own people and the rest of the world." But too bad, I doubt the current President Bush has any "energy" left to do it. Good old slicky willy Clintion, he could probably do Mika and a whole lot more. I don't care what people say, a good sex life does not=bad president. When I saw Mika I understood WHY she'd feel so desperate. I used to have a so-so regard for the Japanese but after reading through some of these answers I was stunned at the ignorance and envy towards the USA. I can also understand why the Japanese economy is in the dumpster. If you have people like this working for you, you're in BIG trouble. In spite of US envy and ignorance, I thought some of the answers were hilarious. I almost had to make a mad dash for the john from laughing so hard. Hey, if all else fails for this ignoramouses, moonlighting for a comedy club might be a wise move. There have been many misconceptions about him and it's unfortunate because the media often gives the wrong impression. He has degress from Yale university and Harvard Business School. He is the first American President with an MBA (Masters of Business Administration). In March 2000, 11 months before Bush took office, the leading economic indicators in America were all going down severely. The economic bust cycle in America is a consequence of heavy speculation during the 90's into Internet companies, many of which went bankrupt. Despite this, President Bush has restored America to near full-employment rate of 58% unemployment (full employment in a free market is approximately 5-6%). Bush is not a great speaker, but I think if you look past the distortions that many are putting out, you will find that he is a compassionate and effective leader. I'm not so sure you will be singing his accomplishments in 12 monthsftime. What with the effects of the drain on public finances his "war on terror" will cost the US and the massive tax cuts, leading to twin deficits, it's just as well there are wars going on to distract everyone's attention. Also, you conveniently forgot he has presided over the Enron, WorldCom and other big business scandals. He and his VP are not exactly clean of these fiascos, especially what happened at Enron.
